What is the best year to build out of 1963,1964,1965 Chevy full size wagon Do they make parts for all? I would like to build a Impala Thanks
Hard to say what there's more of out there. The '63 and '64 were based on the same chassis / platform. The '65 Chevy was all new, and that platform ran all the way up through '70. There's a lot of interest in restoring Chevys of that period, so I would imagine you wouldn't have too much trouble any way you go. You might want to do a Google search on Restoration parts '63, '64; '65 Chevy, then contact some of the listed firms and get their input. One thing you will find that's almost a universal problem, and that's a scarcity of wagon-specific parts like tailgate trim and rear interior trim, quarter glass moldings, etc.....
Impala Bob probably has everything that you need I like the 66 the best though I enjoyed a 427/390 4speed wagon for a while
Best to build Thanks for the help started looking at 66 wagons seams to be a lot of them out there. Is there anyone out there going to the SEMA show? Thanks again
without a doubt...the 63/64....tons of reproduction stuff!!! heck..even some of the 58/59/60 stuff fits it...like brakes and suspension.. ...as opposed to 65...barely anything....by comparision
Do the 63 man. There are sh-tloads of the others out there. I can't remember the last time I saw a 63 or earlier. Personally, I'd like to find a 71 custom wagon, but I'd have to cross over the thin "I hate Chevy's" line. My father would never speak to me again! HA!
