My name is Bryan from Ohio. I origininally looked to join as I was looking for some help. I have a 1995 factory non woody Buick Roadmaster with a LT1. Wanted to spruce it up a bit and put the Impala SS wheels on it. Was not sure what was required if anything to mount them, and what sort of tires you guys who have done this are running. Nice to see other Wagon enthusiasts. Hope one of you has done this. Background: First wagon was a Mercury Montego w a 351(1969). 2nd was a Mercury Marquis Colony Park with a 429(1970). 3rd was a Olds Customer Cruiser with the doggie 305(1985) and now the Buick. I love wagons. Wife hates em. When I blew the engine in the 95, I parked it until I could get around to putting in a new crate motor. Now have only 8K on the new one. I want to hot rod this one up. For those who are interested, I also own a 1951 Anglia street rod and a 1979 G-20 with a high performance 350. Photo attached if it comes through.
Welcome to the SWF, Bryan. Don't recall seeing many all white Roadys...... As far as I know, the Impala SS wheels just bolt on without any modifications. I'm sure someone will jump in here with the facts, since we have quite a few members with that combo (or who have done it at one time or another). If you have them, post up some pics of your previous wagons. Good chatting topics...... Marshall
Nice wagon! The wood-delete are RARE! The Impala wheels will bolt right on. Had them on my '96 Roady and loved them. Keep the posts and PICS coming! -Mike
Welcome aboard, In4red! OEM tires on the SS rims were P255/50/ZR17. I had a hard time finding that size when I was looking, so I used Pirelli "P Zero Nero" 245/50/17 on my Caprice because there were a lot of choices and the Pirelli tires were on sale. They were about 3/8" smaller diameter than the stock Impala SS tire. They will bolt right on your car; easy swap.
The stock tire on new Mustangs is a 235/55/17, and that's what I ran on my Roady. You can find many nearly-new take-off tires in this sizew at used tire stores and on Craigslist. -Mike
Welcome RPO code WB4 RMW guy. The cars are much better looking without the woodgrain IMO. Plus you don't have to worry about peeling trim and vinyl damage, they still have that rubber side trim molding that falls off if you stare at it too hard though.
