This is the most honest wagon I have seen for some time. No rust, no paint work, no BS. Just an honest car still trying to be proud. It's going cheap so anyone living in the Portland area could snap it up. My bet is it will run good with minimal work. There's only 14 hours left so I am hoping somebody will see this thread and jump it before some kid ends up with it and the car becomes junk in a short time. If I lived anywhere NEAR Portland I would be on this little car like white on rice.
This is the Fox pick of the week.

1974_matador.jpg I saw the car yesterday on Ebay, as hidious as the front end styling is that car looks great and I would consider snagging it if it was on my rock

Yeah, Fat...me too. I'm really, really, REALLY hoping that a wagon guy snares this one.

Yup, my luck would be the motor cutting loose about the Rockies on the way up. Be a great candidate for a 401 swap. Talk about a sleeper. Buy her Fox.

I'd sure like to, Blackie. It would cost more to ship than the price of the car. :yikes:

It's within driving distance for me, but not my cup of tea. I absolutely hate that coffin-nose Matador front end (hated it when it came out...), and I'm not a real AMC fan anyway......

OK OK OK ... I want it for sure, but here is the question. I also have a 76 matador within an hr of me I just looked at today. http://tampa.craigslist.org/psc/cto/1452446606.htmlThat one I could get for a parts car. Big issue is I live in Fla. Anyone here have suggestions on cheap ways to ship or get it over to me? If I can keep the whole thing within a 1600 dollar cost all told I will be on this like a bum on a Nickle.

I am new to all this wagon loving so I could use a hand here.

P.S. I know I never did an actual introduction post ... sorry! Let this thread be it lol.

By the way 74 is my birthyear so yeah that just another reason to love this lil Matador

Go on line and dial up car shippers. There's tons of them. You may be surprised.

Krash, I'm not a real AMC fan either but this little car is a nice representative. Funny...I really DO like that weird nose. :yup: And, like Blackfoot said...it would make a KEWL sleeper. Yup...if I lived out there I would take it. Especially for what I THINK it will go for. In the end, it wouldn't be my ONLY wagon.

I love it, but can't have it, he said it smokes and my luck it would probably blow up on the 2600 mile trip home. I like the different look that AMC has always been brave enuff to do. It takes an open minded person to look at most AMC's and say, thats cool.

Wouldn't take much to add a 3rd seat to this beast either, I like that!

It has a 3rd seat and believe me I am on it ... The 3rd seat faces backwards by the way.

Check the pics again, There is no seat there, it is a metal floored storage compartment. I know all about 3rd seats, only Clamshell wagons had foward facing 3rd seats, a few others might have, but the Clamshell Wagons are the most popular ones that come to mind.

Hrrrmn that's odd the red one I looked at today -the 76 had a 3rd seat again here is the link on that one http://tampa.craigslist.org/psc/cto/1452446606.html but I'd much prefer the 74.

Whats your thoughts? Is the seat missing or did the 74 version not have it in the 1st place?

In some cases the 3rd seat is an option. That 76 is a turd. I wouldnt give them 1/4 of the $1600 price. I sure wouldn't trust it seeing that they are sure to take a pic of the motor with no air cleaner, I could care less if it has a new carb, leave the damn cleaner on and just mention it. When I see no air cleaner, I think of old hillbilly Jim Bob running his Ford pickup down the dusty dirty roads with no cleaner on the motor. Its a bondo buggy, they basicly say so in the add, "The exterior body is straight with some previuos bondo areas blistering it's clean both inside and out" , Clean interior, I hope they cleaned the foam sticking out of the seat cushions too. You can polish a turd, but its still a turd, better off rolling it in glitter to really make it shine and hide the sh*t. The wheels and carb are worth more then that roach. If it could be had for $400, go for it, if a penny more is paid, then I feel sorry for that sucker.
