Last Thursday and Friday were spent productively. My new gas tank and sender had arrived as well as the battery box parts.

The weather was beyond perfect in NJ for working outside. Just about 70 degrees and sunny. I crawled my fat butt under the back of the wagon and removed the leaky gas tank. It is a bit of a job by yourself, but I was determined. Here is a pic of the offending unit.

Here is the makeshift repair done by the previous owner.

I wire brushed and painted the straps and installed the new tank and sender with new j-bolts for the strap and a new insulating pad on top of the tank. Fit perfect. It is a Spectra Premium tank.

Next I took on the battery box. Look here real closely. You can see some rusty bailing wire holding up the battery tray which was missing all the brackets.

I purchased new brackets and bought some bolts and washers at the local hardware store.

I painted them up and bolted them in. Solid as a rock.

Last was the new wheels and tires.

Got some more stuff to do this week. I will update this thread when some more is done.

I love those Plymouth rallye wheels with trim rings. Would be nice if some wheel maker did some replicas up in 16" and 17" sizes.......

That is one kooool wagon. (y) I like the black primer paint job, too - makes it looks kinda sinister.

    I can't believe there's no "drool" smiley here . . . . . :bouncy:

Scott, there's an acid protection spray as well, kind of a rubberized coating. You can usually find it from plating suppliers (chrome, etc.) Sure looks clean.

Love the look of that fine wagon.(y)

Yesterday I started installing a Bouchillon Performance kickdown cable kit. Ran into a brick wall when I realised the throttle cable bracket on my 383 is not compatable with the kit. Now I am waiting on parts. Should be here Monday so I will resume work next week. I am heading into NYC in about a half hour for some needed :drink:.(y)

Well, it has been a long while. I am sorry I have not been around here at all. I have been spending some time on a Mopar specific website to help me with my project.

Anyway, the Bouchillon kit worked perfectly for the kickdown but the 383 was getting tired. It is cold here in NJ so indoor work on the car is a good winter pastime.

I replaced the 2.76 open rear with a 3.55 sure grip out of a Roadrunner.

    I pulled the 383.

    I removed the ac/heat box.

I made a block off plate out of sheet metal from a carboard template I made.
    My buddy welding it in.

I ground the welds and threw some primer on there for kicks.

I picked up this beauty out in Ohio. 1968 440ci.

I had the trans rebuilt by Pete Tritak (anyone remember the Tritak and Morgan War Wagon??!!)(y)
Got a Hughes Street Master torque converter and bolted all that stuff together.

This is pretty much where I am at now. I will be priming and painting the engine bay in the next couple weeks. Then I will drop in that 440!

Wish they made a tank for a 69 Fusey wagon!! They do make the wheels in larger sizes, I think, I'll check some Mopar magazines and see if I can get a vendor. MPJ

    BTW nice work!
