Some rotten little ingrate stole my car hauler!!!

Sometime this morning (06/25/15) between 12:30 am and 6 am, someone helped themselves to my 19' car hauler trailer. The bastard(s) removed my chained driveway gate, destroyed my solar-powered gate opener, drove up and got my trailer!!! I had it in a place where the only way you'd where it was parked was looking down from the air. I had it blocked it, and the SOB simply hooked on the back of it with a strap or chain, pulled it uphill to get the tongue clear, hooked up and rolled away. What a M-Fing way to start a day! Called the cops, waited an HOUR, and they came and did their cop thing. Nothing really to get prints off of (he did look), but he did a pretty good report. So now, I get to play with the insurance to see WTF they'll do for a replacement, as soon as I get the police report back on Friday. Foertunately, the gate and hinges were NOT damaged, so I got that back up in a matter of minutes. The fact they needlessly destroyed my opener pisses me off to no end! I designed this car hauler, and a friend; a professional builder, built the trailer for me in 2000. I just repainted it, put new brakes on it, and had it looking friggin' great, too. On the very minute chance any of you come across it, call the cops and contact me via PM!!!

This kinda $#!t just reinforces my belief that 99.273% of all Mankind is eff'ed in the head.:banghead3:

Man, that does suck mightily, but with how much effort they put into stealing it, I hate to say it but I'd say it was someone you know, or someone you sold something to. I base this on the fact that seeing it from 2000 feet is unlikely. It likely was someone who saw the trailer and where you had it parked up close and personal. Are you going to put up C/L ads in the areas around Oklahoma, etc.?

That is so upsetting. I agree with silvertwinkie and that's why I don't know what to do about selling my junk to move.
I've heard so many stories about selling a car or any item and then finding other things soon missing. Many people feed on yard sales and ads to just case a place to see what they can walk off with.
I used to buy special locks for my hitch pin and the trailer tongue. Suppose I better buy some more.
Actually under normal hauling conditions most car haulers with cars and other trailers can be stolen while we sleep at motels or rest areas while still hooked to our vehicles.
    Sorry for your loss.

    Man, that stinks........

Trailer looks pretty heavy duty. Certainly desirable for some low-lifes.

I suggest putting up some ads on CL... Get some additional eyes out there.
Check the surrounding area for any cameras that may have caught them leaving the area.

That's one of the reasons why I 'meet' prospective buyers at neutral places and never at my apartment or where my storeroom is.

That's sad. Let us know what your insurance company says. My agent says my triler is covered when I'm towing it. He didn't say anything about while it's parked in the yard, or stored while I'm at the Pomona swap meet.
When out first Tahoe was stolen, we watched it leave the restaurant parking lot, just didn't realize it was ours.

If someone stole my Ranchero, it'd be easy to find, but if my Exploder were filched, the only way to ID it, since there are five or more of them painted/decorated exactly like mine, is to look for the British Union Jack on the tailgate, along with the letters "GB" on the opposite side.

I'm screwed on the insurance. Homeowner's won't cover it, nor will my auto policy...shows I'm spending a bunch of $$$ on crap coverage.

There's usually some wordage on the policy about coverage for a 'utility trailer' that isn't specifically written up as a covered 'vehicle' like the cars are. What did they say about it not being covered? You might want to review your policy wording very carefully. Possibility that the insurance peeps may be wrong.

The trailer is covered ONLY if it was attached to one of my covered vehicles, so as far as the car policy goes, I'm screwed. Insurance is nothing more than a legal scam, anyway.

I was sort of thinking that. I don't really know anyone with separate insurance for flat beds and utility trailers.
At one time I used to cover my RV tailers but was told they are covered when hooked to an insured vehicle. When camping during a storm I always hooked it up.
I've been lucky and not had an accident with a trailer but I don't trust any insurance companys and what they say.
Legally my truck and cars are supposed to be in a locked garage. Often my truck sits outside. Of course when camping or at a motel it's outside.
I pay like $1000 a year for crappy coverage and am only allowed to drive a certain number of miles a year with State Farm.
We even pay extra for "uninsured motorists" in a state that requires everyone to have insurance to get license! it's all a scam.
