    Greetings!

I've got a big project ahead of me...getting the ol' '59 back on the road!

My parents bought it new in 1958, and I bought it from them in high school. I drove the car through college, met my wife, and been hauling the car from place to place after the engine block cracked.

The poor car needs everything really, including some rust repair, so it will be a challenging task. But, I'm really looking forward to driving it around, hopefully next year sometime.

A pic from back in my college days:

Good for you that you were able to hold onto it over all these years. I'm sure there were some times when you thought about getting rid of it and didn't. Congratulations. Can't wait to see it back on the road.

Good on you for taking on this project. The '59 Chevy is an iconic design, certain to gain more interest (and value) in the coming years (IMO).

Thanks for that information...I didn't know that, but I'll make sure to check that out. I guess that drip rail piece must get rusty on all the '59 Chevy wagons, eh? ;)

I was admiring pics of your wagon earlier today...mighty nice! :2_thumbs_up_-_anima I may be asking for additional advice in the near future.

I know that this project will probably cost more than the car is worth, but the old beast holds quite a bit of sentimental value for me and my family. My folks and siblings would enjoy seeing it running again, and hopefully I can make it look nice too.

My son and I plan to do quite a bit of the work ourselves, but I'm a rookie when it comes to rust repair, bodywork and paint. I'm pretty comfortable with the mechanicals, so I'm going to tackle those first.

I don't have any leads right now, but I'll keep my eyes open. I'm going to need some replacement body bits, so I may end up running across a tailgate with a power window during my search.
