I believe both, but I'm guessing more on the early model years. I know I've seen spoked caps on the wagons (local also) but just can't find a pic. There is a sedan in my erea that does have the spoked caps on steel just like this pic....minus the goat horns
Totally depends on the options. GM had steel wheels with either disk or wire caps, plus two different styles of aluminum mag wheels. 1991-93 mag wheels: 94-96 mag wheels: Wires with steel wheels...sorry pic is not better Hubcaps...these tended to fall off due to plastic mounting tabs...have not seen them in a long time My favorite updates on these cars are Impala SS wheels. Bolt right on and look really good as far as I'm concerned. Still common and can be found cheap. My car: And chrome plated Impala wheels. Gorgeous! Adding a set of of 60's-80's chrome Buick "Road Wheels" are also an option, and they look SHARP!
Also an option are the Buick "turbine" wheels used on the 80's Electra wagons:
And lastly, a set of GM Truck Rally wheels from the 70's-80's is a bolt-on and do not look bad at all. Hope that helps you! -Mike
i believe the wire covers were a "delete option" during the LT1 years. meaning the alloys were standard. if you wanted to cheap out you could get wires.
Hey Krash have you seen the custom center caps one of the folks on the Longroof forum made for these? Check these out, caps came off a 90's-era Century.
94-96, and there are a lot still out there, just get on Craigslist. Also, Impala's used WIDE 255-series tires, but I've found a good and much more common (and cheaper) size is 235-55-17. Looks good, no speedometer error, and no "road walk". A quick tip, the standard size tire on the new Mustang is 235-55-17, so there are a TON of nearly-new take-off tires out there on Craigslist. Either Pirelli P-Zero Nero or Goodyear Eagle RS-A. I got a full set of the Goodyears at a used tire shop for $150 installed. Found them through Craigslist. Good luck! -Mike
If you're gonna go non-stock, I'd personally go with the old school rims that showed up on Electras a lot in the 70's, as pictured above.
you must use caution buying the old school "road wheels" back then the sedans had a different bolt pattern than the wagons. the wagons have always been 5 on 5. in the 90's the sedans also changed to 5 on 5.
