Had a fantastic time in my '96 Roadmaster touring in the Texas Hill country....right up until we hit the deer on the late-night drive home. It was a great day with all my kiddos right up until that happened. Here's pics from the 21st. Such Fun!

None of the kids were hurt...that's what matters the most of course. I'll fix the wagon soon...better than it was before.

Never a dull moment in life folks. Again hope everyone had a great holiday wherever you are.

Dam Mike. That is really, really lousy. Sorry to hear about the car. I'm glad that no one was hurt. I saw the post that Marshall had showing the front of the car. As soon as I saw it my heart sank, I thought that it looked like your car and your kids.
I hope it didn't put to big of a downer on your Christmas.

Are the kids all back with you again? Sorry if I missed this in a pervious post. They sure have grown. You sure know how to make the most of a perfect day...well except for the crash.

    Mike,
Sorry to read about the deer encounter, but very glad to see that everyone is okay.
Also, very happy to see that Eddie has inherited Dad's wagon-itis!

The wagon will be back on the road in no time. Mike loves it too much to let it sit and decay.

The deer didn't make it. The Roady, will.

Thanks to Jay, this '94 Roadmaster was located at a salvage yard in Hearne Texas, about 70+ miles east of me here in Round Rock. Drove out yesterday morning.

I "painfully" cut out some wood from my damaged fender, to take to the salvage yard with me. Wood on these cars tends to fade, and I want the best match possible.

Square of woodgrain removed from damaged fender.

Drove to Hearne Tx with the hopes of getting the fender and hood off this '94. Sadly the hood had both dents above the grill area and rust around the edges...car was from Akron Ohio. Land of Salt and cold!

While I was not able to get the hood from the '94 Roadmaster in Hearne Tx, due to being a northern car, with surface rust and dents on the hood, I DID get the hard-to-find fender, and being a northern car, the wood is hardly faded, if at all! Score!

Close look at very nice Ohio woodgrain from '94 salvage-yard car. Will re-use my wood outline trim, which was not damaged. This may not be an exact match to my car, but it's VERY close!!

Roady from Akron Ohio Salvage yard fender does have light surface rust on the lower fender lip under the black metal trim, but I'm going to re-paint the white anyway, so it was the wood that was important! Will make it look new!

Also nabbed the license-plate mount from the '94 Ohio parts car in Hearne Tx. A light sand and paint with Krylon Fusion and it will look great!

Now to locate a rust-free Texas white hood. Will be on the lookout for a white hood...Caprice and Custom Cruiser are the same I'm pretty sure. I'm going to re-paint it, but would rather just do the top, not the underside, so white. No dents, no rust, that's all I care about. I'm betting between Austin and Belton/Temple I can find a good one. If not, San Antonio.

Remember all the white Caprice cop cars in the yards a few years back? Makes me want to bang my head against the wall...ha. Not nearly as many these days.

    Such Fun!

Judging by the damage pictures, you'd need the core support and associated hardware and latches for the hood and radiator too. Or can you straighten yours out? I did this repair on a '78 that only had evidence of front fender and hood damage and I ended up replacing the entire core support, fender, inner fender, grill and headlight assembly (it was a lot more work than I thought, good thing I got the car for $250!).

Drove the 80-miles home with no engine cooling fans, and one broken headlight pointing at the tree-tops to the left of me!

    Was fun.

Only damage to front bumper was some dents in the metal trim below the black, and the license plate is bent/plastic mount cracked. Externally will need hood, new metal bumper trim, driver's fender, new grill, both headlights, marker light on driver's side, and paintwork. Thankfully the air bags did not deploy.

Underhood the radiator support is bent and will need to be replaced, condensor has a hole in it, exterior temp sensor cracked off it's mount, hood latch/mount hardware all damaged, radiator bent but not leaking, electric fans in a bind due to bends, and K&N filter housing bent.

    I'm in parts-gathering mode now...

    -Mike

Good luck Mike. Looks like you are well on your way to finding the parts and putting your wagon back on the road again.

Glad to hear that everyone is okay, before you know it the Roadkillmaster will be back cruising. Good luck with the repairs.
