made front wheel drive in order to lower the center of gravity in the house area, and lower the roofline to improve ride, handling and fuel economy. The rear wheels are in tandem instead of dual to save room in the living area. the wheel wells are only 12 inches deep.

I get 12mpg on the interstate. It corners as well as my buick lesabre. Torsion bar front suspension and Air Bellows on the rear. There were 12942 of them made, and there is a guy keeping up with them and their whereabouts. There are about 6000 of them still on the road world wide, and several places that deal in parts for them. If you were nearby id say come check it out.

That GMC is probably the best looking motor home in history. Very collectable now.

If I remember it was a Olds Toronado drive train. Very forward thinking in the 70's.:thumbs2:

Ever see the movie "Stripes" with Bill Murray & John Candy?

Great GMC motorhome footage & funny as all hell too!

Are all those Pecan road signs still up? Black on Yellow big mother signs about every 1/2 mile, running down through Georgia, etc.?

Those were on old Hwy 41, Stormy. I doubt they are still there since the interstate. I used to love to stop at the southern BBQ shacks on the side of the road in the early 60's. The very BEST BBQ I ever had in my whole mouth!:yup:

We drove down there in 1971 with the whole famdamily and my grandfather, in a 1958 Crown Imperial - 8 people, nobody rubbing elbows. Ate more pecans than I can recall. (y)
