My rear power window stopped working. Motor still works but the gear will not turn. Do i or will i have to replace the whole motor or can the gears be repaired or replaced?

You'd have to at least take it apart to make a determination if the motor lost power, gear stripped, regulator stripped or jammed or broke, etc.
Kinda hard to diagnose otherwise - - -

if its a ford motor, usually they sell the 3 bushings in the help section at your autozone or advance. some people will make their own bushings out of metal nuts, so they never break again.

the motor turns a triangle inside the housing. the bushings sit inside the triangle and turn the gear which runs the regulator up and down.

its a 10 min fix AFTER you get the motor out.

here are the little things youre looking for, they should be in the help section on the racks that spin around, where the nuts and bolts and vaccum parts are. or they may be on the aisle with the door handles. theyre in a pack of 3

A few weekends ago I spent about 8 hours trying to fi my rear window. It would go down but not up.

    remove cover
    remove window
    remove motor mounting bracket
discover that the new motor isn't identical to the old motor (damn you Korea!)
rehab the old motor by repacking it and straightening the shaft
test motor on shorts to battery works both ways
    install motor
    replace window
    replace cover

    window rolls down
    window does not roll up
    check switch
    switch broken
    replace switch
    problem fixed

lesson: check the easy fix first.

If the motor turns but nothing else does then its most likely going to be those bushings.

Did you clean and lube your tracks while you were in the door? Always clean and lube whenever its open so you dont have to go back later.

I did not lube, I did put the cover back on just for the car show. I could see the outer most gear was not turning though.

i used the white lithium, i was afraid of petroleum softening the plastic parts. a friend uses regular grease.
