Hi, I may be looking at a 1996 Roadmaster. The owner wrote to me in an email, "It runs great in dry weather but since GM designed this corvette motor with the distributor on the bottom, it chugs in the rain, so I just don't drive it when its wet out." Has anyone else had this problem with LT1 Roadmasters in the rain? If so, does anyone know what the fix would be?
Opti-spark module needs replaced. Not a cheap date, upto $1000 to have done and unless you know what you are doing, they are a real pain in the nads to do. Thats what I have been told by tons of members on the ImpalaSS forum.
In 1996 I think they upgraded the vent system on the optispark, I've had no problems with mine. And it sits behind the water pump, so I don't know how wet weather is going to be affecting it. If it's bad it will be bad all the time. I do have issues with water splashing up onto the power steering pump and belt, and it can actually lock up the steering.
No need to worry about selling the Pinto. If you're tight on storage space, just park it in the cargo area of the Roadie!!
