i have asked this question before and was told id be better of asking it in general wagon discussions. i was wondering if it is possible to fit shoulder belts into a 1964 ford country sedan wagon in the front and back? i know lapbelts were an option on the car and it does have them in the front. i would like to at least have lapbelts in the back as well. has anyone done this? is relatively easy or a weekend project?

well 64csw....anythings possible...depends on your skills or wallet:)

theres quite a few companys that make 'universal' 3 point belts...
    www.autoloc.com .... www.latestrage.net .
personally...i like the LatestRage ones...they are a rip off of early Volkswagen...and look period correct with the 'aircraft' latch .

its just a question of how your going to attach them to the B pillar...dats all :thumbs2:

I can't specifically comment on the '64 Ford, but I'm betting if I can do it to my '58 Pontiac, then you can do it to your wagon. And I will say that I think it's the right thing to do. Including the 3 point belts in the back. If you drive your wagon, its worth it.

For my B-pillar attachment I had to drill a couple holes. One to hold the plate in place and one for the actual belt attachment. Kind of had to snake it in place from the bottom, but they are in there. The rears are going to be harder and I'll probably have to use the roof frame. But that's down the road. Right now the kids are using 5 point harnesses attached through the floor.

Anchorage is critical; if they are ever needed in the event of a collision, the belts will transfer forces of 5,000 to 10,000 pounds to the anchors.

Make sure you use a reputable kit and the floor and pillar anchor/reinforcement plates are attached to structural members (not just the floor pan or inner wheelhouse, for example).

At least they offer a specific 3-point front seat kit for 64 Ford!

It's a good idea...I'm adding 3 point belts to the front and rear of my GTO, too.
