The Grand Am Wagon Lives! Tom Goad, who is currently Pontiac's manager of special vehicles engineering, still owns two Grand Ams. He reports that is father bought one new in 1973, a maroon sedan, and Tom also owns the single Grand Am station wagon prototype built. The wagon has an interesting history. Pontiac Engineering originally ordered a Lemans wagon and had it rebuilt to Grand Am specifications. The front fascia, suspension, full interior, custom rear seats, and other details reflected the tenor of Grand Am coupes and sedans. This wagon remained in the Pontiac Engineering fleet for two years, after which Pontiac decided to retire it. After replacing the Grand Am front end with Lemans sheetmetal, Pontiac sold it as a well-used Lemans wagon. Tom Goad bought it in that condition, replaced the Grand Am fascia, and has owned it ever since. He had the entire vehicle gone through and rebuilt several years ago. Its odometer now registers just over 80,000 miles.
