Howdy Folks! I'm a station wagon lover like the rest of you here, and have had one as long as i can remember. Alas, my current incarnation, Morgana, is a 1987 Mercury Colony Park woodie, and i just can't afford to fix her up anymore. I'm broke, and unfortunately so is she. In desperation to donate her to a good cause, i found this website. She's not running at the moment, probably battery from sitting around the last few months, plus the heater core was disconnected in summer, and the radiator spills all the fluid if you drive for more than 20 minutes. (back in summer). Otherwise, she was running good before that. Sorry to dump all this on you all, but i'm so glad to have found a place like this! FOR NOW - i have to do something with Morgie before the year is out - i'm not looking for any money....i live in NYC...i'll even use my AAA to have it towed with the NY Metro Area for free... But PLEASE - can anyone do anything here to give her a 2nd life??? Please let me know (picture attached) and i will DEFINITELY stay on this website...for the LOVE OF THE WAGON
I have a friend in Virginia who may well be very interested. He wants an old car, and he'll give Morgana a great home.
that would be sooooo great! please get back to me as soon as you hear...not sure how this works...let me know if you need my email or cell #. with a little work she'll run again for sure! thanks sooooo much you guyz!! it's nice to finally be in a place where i'm understood for my LOVE OF WAGONS!
Welcome.Glad you want her to go to a good home and sounds like a deal that can't be beat for someone!
Morgana: I gave my pal the link to this thread. Hopefully he will look and get in touch with you here. His name is Jakub. I know he would give the old girl a good home, and with me to help him figure her out, she should last about forever. I only wish I had known a week ago, and the border wasn't such a pain for time. My 78 Thinderbird blew the transmission, and with the rust, she was scrap. I would have LOVED that wagon, somehow. 87 is my favorite year for thee, too. The last year of no emissions testing here! One way or the other, we will certainly try to make sure Morgana gets a good home. It is just too bad you have to give her up. By the way, the heater core is a cheap part. Only about $60. It is possible to do it yourself, as long as you take your time, and have somewhere warm to work on her. There is one bolt, though, that is not in the pictures. Find it, and the job is under a day. A good used rad is only about $50, and that only takes half an out to change normally.
Thanks so much for all the help MikeT1961. Sad to say i lack the skills to do the fix myself. and living in NYC, its near impossible to find a warm place to work anyway. someday that's my dream, to have the space & place & time to learn....perhaps if Jakub doesn't work out, maybe a way for you?... worth considering! and thanks again!!
If I was in a situation where I could I would be all over it. I am a 80s Mercury Marquis and Grand Marquis/Colony Park wagon fanatic. Sadly though I can't help at this time.
Morgana, I would LOVE to give the old girl a home. Trouble is, time and money, not to mention getting her across the border. And me a passport before I could get across to bring her home. On top of that, just last week I went through all the hassles of getting a 78 Grand Marquis sedan on the road in a hurry. I will keep eyes and ears open for someone to give the old girl a good home, though.
personally...im kinda glad your on the other side of the planet ......I already have its twin in my driveway well if anyone can find a home for it ....its US thanx for thinking of us Morgana...and to our humble abode
