My 83 Olds wagon has not been driven in a long time, Until the last two weeks. Anyways, I guess the pieces of plastic, that fill in the section of body between the fender, and bumper, in front, on the lower left and right sides, have been steadily drying out over the years. These last two weeks of driving, are causing them to fall apart in chunks. The left side one is gone completely, and the right side one, is missing half already. They are brown, to blend with my woodgrain. Any of you people here, know where I can purchase a set from? Preferably new, or as new as I can find anyways, so they are not all dried out already. I'd love to be able to get a hold of a complete set, front and rear, for the car, if anyone reproduces them..

    Nick

I haven't seen too many making reproduction parts, but there are repair kits. If they're the usual PVC type, they are usually inert plastic (don't dry, rust, crack). ABS plastic looks and feels the same, but it does get brittle. You can get quite a few kits at a good quality bodyshop supply house, (crack fillers, primers, cleaners and matching paint/clearcoat specifically for these parts).

I found this firm who make/sell some plastic bumper parts, though.

This one might have the 'sump' too (although I've never heard of that term in an automotive context).

You remember the first Mel Gibson 'Lethal Weapon' flick? He's up on the ledge with some guy who wants to jump, and he says to him "Yeah, It's the Silly Season." I remind my wife every year. It's so easy to get sucked into this mass-psyche of all kinds of emotional stuff (papers and TV are full of bad news, plus our own load) that you just have to swing around and be UP. Then you can look at it all and ask yourself what REALLY Matters. It's a b!tch from underneath it all. That's a lot of slime to swim up for a breath of air!

Tell your buds to get together and set up another shop! Between them, they can probably scrape up some equity and bring their experience to the table, then you'll have a parachute if yours chokes! :) Bet you the boss wonders what he lost...

I know that feeling! Damned if you do, and damned if you don't! ;) My uncle always said he wanted to be buried 'face down', so the world could kiss his a$$! He's still a rebel at 78! :)
