Just wondering if anyone has successfully painted a hood insulation pad? If so, what process did you use?

I’ve long since wanted to paint an Oldsmobile logo and rocket symbol on mine. Nothing fancy, just white similar to this factory one by Buick.

A guy at work runs a decal shop on the side and can make me a stencil.

The pad I installed was new in 2019. I tried a scrap piece of the insulation and a piece of stencil, along with high temp white spray paint. All it did was want to bleed under the stencil into the open cell insulation and look like crap.

So I wonder if anyone has successfully done this, and if so, what was the process?

I've never done it, but if I were going to, I'd use the stencil, thick paint, and a brush to stipple it on to minimize the bleeding. Spray is way to thin for even a slightly porous material.
