Tomorrow when you put the pedal to floor when you see the mall and "Look honey, we missed the mall", you might want to consider stopping at Advance Auto Parts if you do your own oil changes. They have a really good deal on oil and filters through the end of the month. Went in there yesterday for tune up parts for the Trooper and wound up getting oil and filters for all my 4 wheelers. You get 5 qts of major brand oil and either a Purolator classic(which I prefer) or Fram oil filter for 20.99. THEN on top of that the manufacturers are throwing in a $7 rebate on 5 or more qts oil. So net cost comes down to 13.99 plus tax. If you've bought oil lately this is a killer deal! The oil rebate I got(Castrol) is actually good for oil bought through end of year and you can do up to 2 submissions from a single household. There's also a deal for 5 qts of the Ford semi syn oil and a Motorcrap filter for 19.99 which saves a couple bucks over Walmart Brothers price. Now put down that turkey leg and get to the store! and
OIL CHANGE ? We're supposed to change the oil? I bought my truck new in 2004. It had oil in it then. It still has oil according to that long stick with the cute curl on the end of it! I ain't puttin this turkey leg down for nuthin!
Funny thing, dad didn't drive and barely knew how to open a hood. Our earlier family cars were Chevys. Then a Buick fastback. They never changed oil. Sometimes the attendent at the Shell station would add a quart!
I havent been able to beat Walmart on oilprices 5/20 castrol in five quart jug for wifes car and 5/30 synthetic (I'm special!) Mobil one for me .... but I'll check out advanced.
Don't forget to consider the $7 rebate in your calculations which is apparently only available for Advance sourced oil.
x2 8-12 bucks less for the five quart jug of the good name brand dinosaur oil at THE Walmart compared to the parts stores around here. And it isn't imported from China either.
Thats nice and all, but I only use Valvoline oil and Wix filters. They in my own opinion are the best. Ive never seen thoes on sale anywhere. They are expensive but I think they are worth it
------------- I used to be picky on my oil and filters, and changing it myself. I found that as long as there is some slippery clean stuff in the crankcase the engine doesn't mind. Now I just go to Wally World on a sale day and say "fill-e-up." Some kid that don't know a dipstick from a drain plug smiles and gits-er-done!
I use the Walmart Supertech oil and have over 20 K&N filters for my car. They were on clearance at Advance for $2.49 a while back and I bought all I could get locally and then called my brother in FL who cleaned them out.
Let's see here. Prices taken from my Wal-Mart in Wichita Falls, TX. This morning. Just now. $3.24 for the average Fram oil filter. That leaves $10.75 to buy a 5qt jug. SuperTech is $8.50 ($11.74 total) Yellow bottle Pennzoil is right about $9.50 ($12.74 total) Green bottle Quaker State is also $9.50 ($12.74 again) Castrol GTX is $10.50 ($13.74 total) Motorcraft Synthetic Blend is $11.50/5qt so that's out (but I use it anyway) There's also SuperTech high mileage, Pennzoil/QS high mileage, Valvoline, Chevron Supreme, and Mobil 5000 and 7500 which all seem to be under $11/jug. So any of those except the Motorcraft will work and stay under (and that is SIGNIFICANTLY under) your $13.99 budget. You can save a little more with the SuperTech filters, those are 40 cents less at $2.84, but I'm picky and I buy the FL-1A Motorcraft filter which is $4.08 at the moment (usually $3.9x). In the meantime, feel free to accumulate those rebate coupons if they're not store specific and use them after a Wal-Mart purchase. $7 off of the above prices would be pretty sweet, right?
Wow, pant, those are a lot cheeper prices on oil than we're seeing at our Ga Wally's! 15.97 for the 5 qt Castrol GTX. Don't use Frams at this outfit. Unfortunately, I think the $7 coupon is Advance specific, it says Advance receipt on the back in requirements.
Valvoline oil usually goes for full price but it's cheap at Wal-Mart. Add in a rebate and you're good. It's remembering to send in the proof of purchase and receipt and rebate form and then 80% of the time you'll get a check back. Wix filters are sometimes cheap on RockAuto. A quick check of the vehicles I have and recently owned show most Wix filters are $4 to $4.40 but I recall they were much cheaper back in 08-09.
Lessee , save a couple bucks shopping at TX Wally for oil, filters........$803 for flight out and back ! Then American will prolly charge me $50 for box of oil, filters . Haha, enjoy your cheep prices!
