My brother and sister-in-law surprised my sons Eddie and Tuck with a Spring Break trip to Disney World in Florida. WOW. Nice gift! Tuck, the 4yr old got to fly on a plane, and I think he enjoyed that as much as going to Disney. Ha! The boys got home today and have been passing on some great stories. Meanwhile, my "new" kids we took in last October got to help me change a fuel pump on Misty's Denali last weekend and sat around the house all week while Misty and I worked. Not that they didn't enjoy sleeping in, playing on their computers and being bums all week, but Misty and I decided to give them a good surprise yesterday. So at 9am I got them up, tossed them in the Custom Cruiser and we drove to San Antonio for a day at Six Flags Fiest Texas. We had a BALL. Lily and Johnathan had NEVER been on a roller coater before...amazing...and we stayed until the placed closed. GREAT day. The lines were long but we had a total ball, and I got to live out another Vacation movie moment, pulling into the giant parking lot in my wagon with my kids. I did not get to punch Marty Moose however. Ha. Fiesta Texas is a neat park. It was built on the floor of an old rock quarry that operated from 1934-1988. Neat way to re-purpose the land, and it's cool to see the towering cliff surrounding the park. We had SO much fun..despite the fact that I could never get all three kids to smile at once! Lily in an ice cream truck Thieir favorite ride was a water ride in the rear corner of the park. Lily is CRAZY... You can stand on a bridge over the ride and get SOAKED, and she must have stood there for 10 drenchings. She was soaked to the bone! Johnathan in the light blue shirt in the middle starting up the ride's hill, and coming down to soak Lily again... Yes that's Lily under the wave... TOTALLY SOAKED I LOVE this pic...this is Joseph watching his sister getting soaked by wave #6....he's saying "my sister is a freaking idiot"... Ahahaha Sunset and wild coasters... Not a bad way to spend a Saturday. Hope you all had a good weekend too! -Mike
Looks like the kids all had a great time. Your Six Flags looks remarkably like the Six Flags Magic Mountain they have in Southern California, along with a bit of Knott's Berry Farm thrown in. That water ride and that last twisty coaster you showed look identical to a couple of the Knott's rides.
I swear, every time you write about those kids, and show us pictures, the love we see is stronger than the time before, and the joy we see in their faces has grown exponentially. I am, as always, in awe of you and Misty. Look up "HERO" in the dictionary, and there is a picture of you you two.
I went to Magic Mountain as a kid. I don't think it was a Six Flags park then, but I could be wrong. I actually saw a really bad movie on the late LATE show called ROLLERCOASTER...from the late 1970's, and the last part of the movie was filmed at Magic Mountain. Was neat to see the almost total lack of safety stuff on the rides. Yikes! Ha! -Mike
Thanks but we just did the needful. Could not let them go homeless or end up in the state system. They're all doing a lot better. I heard Lily tell one of her friends I was her step-Dad. Made me feel good. Anyway it was a fun day for me too. I was happy to find out that I'm not too fat and old to get on the rollercoasters still. I screamed my head off right along with the kids. Ahahaha! -Mike
Yep I agree. There is also a big mall down there that was built inside another quarry. Alamo Quarry Market is one of the nicest in San Antonio, and it has those same type cliffs all around it, and the red brick cement factory that was there is now a main part of the mall, with the smokestacks coming up through the middle of the Regal Cinemas movie theater there. Neat idea! Gotta love San Antonio. -Mike
Solidified my desire to take the crew down there this summer. We were going to do Fiesta TX and Alamo and other SA things on the way out last summer but the reservations for hotels didn't line up and we had to go east first instead of south. I won't make that mistake this year.
We were warm in the lines this past weekend. Don't think I'd want to be in those lines in July-August. Also of you go, do it during the week. A lot less crowd then. I really want to go back to Six Flags over Texas up in Dallas. They have more traditional wooden coasters, which is what I grew up riding and still like. Regardless, fun times! -Mike
Does this make her a waterlily? You really make me want to see Texas in person. Sounds like you ALL enjoyed a great sprong break!
Wife and I were there in 95, she and the girls are going to SA for a band trip, but not going to Fiesta Texas. I remember the log flume well! And the old wooden coaster, pretty rough ride as I recall. I think they'll be missing out, but they're not in charge of leisure activities
Sounds like it was a great day I how ever don't have to pay to get this....... I can just go to the brake water when we have gail force winds...... Glad you all had a good time:2_thumbs_up_-_anima
A WaterLily...Ahaha! As for visiting Texas, between now and Mid-May is my favorite time of the year here. The wildflowers are just starting to show up, with all the bluebonnets starting to pop up along the roads. Man I want to go for a ride!
