Hello, My name is Don and I have a couple wagons and some other old cars. I have a 1959 Pontiac Safari that I have owned for about 20 years, this car is currently in the paint show and I hope to see it back by summer. I recently aquired a 1967 Caprice 396 wagon, its kinda rough, but it is being put back in mechanical driver shape as we speak. I also have a 1963 Corvair Greenbrier wagon/van, my kids call it our "surf mobile", I am very involved in Drag Racing and I am in the finishing stages of building a Nostalgia NITRO funny car. I have raced in the NHRA Top Alcohol dragster & Funny car classes for the past 20 years or so. Did I mention that I also have a 1965 Corvair Corsa 140 and a 1934 Chevy 3window couple project car(my wife says I have a problem with "broken" cars) I live on the California coast in Morro Bay, Ca. And I am a Real Estate Broker/Property Manager for a living.
Geez Don, you've got it all..... Great place to live (close to #1 on my places I'd like to live..); great cars to drive; great hobby. Way back in 1971 or 2 I owned a '66 Corsa 180. Probably the vehicle i most regret selling..... (had it up to 103 on the Harbor Fwy once - it was 2:00AM) Welcome to the forum..... Marshall
to the wagon train, Don. I guess no one can say that you aren't a real car guy! Glad you found us and that you decided to join our family! We're glad to have you. We appreciate the pix. It's difficult for me to believe any California cars are junk. At least, not by natural causes.
Thank you for all the kind words, my first car I every had when I was 16 was very similar to the Caprice. I always wanted one and the restored ones are pricey, so I found this one locally, and I guess we will see if we can spiff it up. Thanks for the great website!
In '71 i also had a '66 Corsa 180. I loved it. I got talked out of it by a guy looking for a power train for a motorhome he was building based on some kit that used rear engine powertrain. I still hate myself. I also had a '65 140 but it just wasn't the same. Love the wagons Don. Nice to see another Safari on the forums. There are actually quite a few of us.
