Hi all, I have a 1973 Gran Torino wagon. It has been in our family since 1977. It is also in need of a total restoration, as it was parked around 1980 due to the C4 transmission only having reverse left. Shortly after the 302 engine was taken apart. Most of the parts are still there, but will have to be replaced. Only the block and a few other things are under the hood. It has 35,000 original miles.
I used to live in Fayetteville, GA. Used to go to BJ's in Newnan. Anyway, I plan on repainting it the original color, redoing the interior, getting the engine machined and the tranny reconditioned, and installing 4 bucket seats and consoles.
WOW! It was parked after only being 7 years old, for 32 years, that's incredible. Glad someone with good sense, great taste and creativity is bring it back to life. aboard.
Thanks for the welcome guys. Yup, we drove it about 15,000 miles between September 1977 and when we parked it in 1980. The location in the first and next to last photos are where the car sat the whole time.
thanks for the more GTW Hope you keep us posted with your resto , I CAN SEE YOULL FIT IN HERE JUST FINE
to the wagon train, GTW. I can't hardly believe you parked a car for 32 years with just 35K miles on it! How many cars have you bought and sold during that time? Sure am glad to see you're getting back to it! Can't wait to see the progress.
I'd say about 15 or so. Along with the wagon, we had a 1970 Maverick. We still have it too, but it's not worth fixing so we are using it as a parts car for another one we bought. Maybe I'll post a photo of a Maverick wagon here. Anyway, I have a photo of the Torino in 1977 at Walt Disney World in FL that I forgot to post.
