Hello, just signed up. Glad to have found the forum and like minded folks. I have a 1991 Buick Roadmaster wagon, and just acquired a 1984 Pontiac 6000 wagon, which I'm struggling to get running. I've been looking for a 6000 wagon for years!

    Welcome, Steve, to the SWF.

We're pretty familiar here with the '91-'96 GM B-bodies, having many members that own one (or more). It's that Pontiac 6000 that we'd really like to see pics of. IIRC, '84 was the first year for the A-body FWD wagon.

I am somewhat familiar with the Pontiac 6000, having one as a company car in '83'-85. Really wish I coulda kept it - it was a great car (4-dr sedan)

    Good to have you here!

Welcome to the Nuthouse we call home. Sounds like you'll fit in just fine around here. Not a lot of those Pontiac wagons around, at least here. Most of the time they were used hard, put away wet, and then scrapped young. Can't wait to see what you are working with.

    6000 Wagon photos

Thanks for the welcome guys! Definitely not many of these wagons around anymore - I have been watching for years for one and found this one last week. First year of the wagon too.

It's in amazing condition, but will not start. Engine cranks over fine but I think the ignition is bad. I have started trying to find out what the cause is. If anyone had wiring diagrams for these (2.8 carbed, distributor w/ external coil) I'd be appreciative.

Here are some photos of the car being loaded onto the tow truck and one in my garage.

That's quite a find in that shape! I hope it turns out to be an easy fix too. I always liked the Chevy Pontiac Olds Buick models of those. Welcome and have fun!

Welcome aboard! The dashboard gauges in the 6000's were quite high-tech at the time.

Well Steve, if that 2.8 turns out to be toast, there's lots of options to replace it with something else, and lots of help on the WWW. You've got the 3.4, mostly found in the GM minivans, the 3.8 that came in the Buick Century and Olds Ciera. Heck, some guys have even done Cad front drive (4.9?)V-8 swaps.

You might find some help here:
