hey guys i thought i would introduce myself...my names Justin i'm from the Philly area and I'm partial to sixties style custom cars.
I just picked up this low mileage 1961 F-85 olds wagon about a month ago and I'm in the process of freshening things up....brakes, tune up stuff like that. I'm no stranger to old GMs and wagons, my past wagon experience was a 59 chevy brookwood and a 64 bel air wagon that with a 63 impala front end. theres alot of nice wagons on here some i'm hoping i could learn some new stuff.

Welcome! Nice find - don't see many 61 F85's. I drove 300 miles to look at a '65 F85 this past summer; was told on the phone that it had very little rust. When I got there and lowered the tailgate, about half of it rained down on the ground in rust flakes. Are you going to keep it stock or customize it?

Thanks! Im undecided on how much I want to change it, they didn't make alot of these in wagons the first year. I am on the search for some four lug cragar s/s wheels, and then I'll probably swap out the springs to get it to sit lower.

In this case, it might be iron AND aluminum as these cars came equipped with an aluminum block V8!

I'm the third owner of the car. the previous owner is in jail, his son had and his landlord said it had to go, the son couldn't get it start and the brakes were shot. So I was in the right place and the right time with a tow truck to rescue it. It was originally sold at a local Cadillac Oldsmobile dealership (that's still in business) and it currently has 51,000 miles on it. It does have some rust in the right side quarter but nothing to bad. Running gear is the all aluminum 215 v8, I'm not sure yet on the trans I've read conflicting stories on what it is. The only power options are steering and the tailgate window. I'll have to get more pics, the insides in great shape except for the carpet, these pics were from the day I brought it home it's currently in the garage with all the brakes off. Gotta make it safe for the daughter and wife!

Welcome, those are rare cars! Overall, it looks like it is in pretty good condition. As you work on it, it would be fun to see photos of your progress, which you can post in the Cosmetic & Restoration section of the forum.
