    Hey guys,

Does anyone here know where I can get a metric flare nut (thread measurements are m10 x 1.0)? My neighbor and I were fixing a line on an air compressor and I lost (Translation: threw out) one of the flare nuts that connects to the check valve. Of course, every fitting on there is standard EXCEPT for the flare nut that I lost. :slap:

I can buy the replacement part, but they want $44 for the nut and the piece of bent tubing that it rides upon. :slap::slap:

I've tried all the usual autoparts places liek Jegs, and the local nut and bolt shop doesn't carry much metric stuff.

By the way, don't think that the humor of a tool built with standard AND metric parts is lost on me. Thank God I'm not a Chinese factory worker building these things...

Lowes might have something. If not, you'll have to check with an industrial supply like W.W. Grainger. Another idea, buy a SAE fitting and re-tap with a metric bottom tap. I don't know exactly what you have, but it might work.

I like DG's idea if it is a possibility.

Exactly! Up here we've got 'Fasteners' in the Yellow Pages. Grainger is in there too.

funny, we have the same headaches locating imperial fittings and fasteners here in new zealand. m10x1 will be common on jap cars but sounds weird to have it on a flare nut..

    X2 :)

Parted out a Buick once and saved every bolt, nut etc that came off the car.
