Since the weather guy/gal predicted 5 days of rain for us last week I counted on last weekend being a wash out.
As saturday morning dawned I figured it would rain all day and the planned car shows cancelled. Well......... saturday morning was cloudy, but about noon the sun appeared and stayed out. (so much for the weather person being right, AGAIN)
I told my g/f Debbie that I wanted to attend the afternoon show since I stayed home for the morning show.
We packed the nessessary junk in the back of my '57 Wagon and headed out. Got to the place the show was at. A Church was having the show for their youth grow and I don't mind supporting a worthy cause.
Paid my entry fee. They told me and only me where to park my Wagon.
A couple hours later the morning show had let out and some of those people came to this show.
I noticed a couple guys looked like they were judging cars.
At about 6:30pm or so they announced they were going to hand out a few awards. First was a guy who owns a completely stock black '72 Chevy truck. He got two awards. I was also told right after he got these he left.
Next I hear them call my entry number. First it was a shock to me. I don't go to car shows expecting to win anything. So I walked up, they handed me a trophy and a $10 gas card. Went back to my Wagon where Deb and a friend plus his wife were. They congratulated me on the award.
About 10 minutes later a guy comes up, says a mistake was made and he wants the trophy back. I asked about the gas card? He says that too cause I don't deserve it. Before he leaves he hands me a plaque.
Not 10 minutes afterwards another guy comes up. Tells me they made a mistake and wants the plaque back. Then he hands me another plaque.
I told Debbie I was leaving and to get in the car.
They really should get their act together. [IMG]

OH. The guy who got first place in the class they stuck me in. (hot rod) was also the judge.

Yeah. He judged his own car and got first place.

    NICE!!!!! (not really)

That's why I don't bother with car shows. Too much BS.

Wow! That's strange. Car shows are supposed to be fun. Judging and awards should be banned. Everyone should enjoy each others cars without judgement.

At least the weather was nice. When I was a kid living near Boston we got 2 feet of partly cloudy one night. That was a surprise to wake up to.

I have no problem supporting a worthy cause. But they need to get their act together.

A friend showed up to look. He lieves like two blocks from where this afternoon show was held. He said he would never go back to the show that happened in the morning, "Cause they need to get their act together."
(he must have known something about the afternoon show I didn't know?)
    :biglaugh:

But the friend who was talking to us when they called out my registration number couldn't believe they came up to me and wanted the trophy back. He & his wife were standing there when that happened and saw them do it.

Sounds like a real amateur event. I sure hope the "judge" wasn't affiliated with the church. That's a very big ethics conflict.

I would suggest sending a letter or e-mail to whoever ran the event, telling them of your experience. Otherwise, these kinds of things happen again to someone else.
