[/IMG]Found it on a Mopar bullitin board.A young guy had inherited it from his grandad. It was in Victoria BC.Since my dad had one new and it was my first driver when I turned 16 I had a hankering for one.The young guy told me "all it needs is a starter motor and you can drive her home".Thought about it..talked to the wife about a road trip but since we live 3000 or so miles away decided to buy it and ship it. Young guy offered me the car for $500...I accepted....next thing you know I was outbidded by a local who wanted to demo derby it.We went back and forth...when it got to a G note I told him i was done.He probably never had another offer...just reeling me in . Anyways cut the deal.....shipped it in ($1400) and threw in a new starter. Clunk Clunk...engine siezed.Sooo glad I never flew out to drive it home. This is maybe 4 years ago.Completely gutted it...pulled the subframe...single piston disk conversion...rebuilt suspension etc etc.Was a factory 383-4bbl 325 horse 727 with a 3.23 sure grip....a common enough drivetrain in the USA but very uncommon in the Canadian Dodge line...my dads was a slant 6 with the poly 318 being the common Canuk engine.Top dog mill in Canadian 6t5's was the 413 340 horse job...USA was the 426- 365 horse wedge engine.Canuk cars used the US Fury dash and interiors as well as some unique trim.My car being a Polara 440 uses the Fury II cloth and vinyl interior and the US Polara 880 body mldgs with unique Polara 440 fender nameplates. The other Canuk 65's were the base model 330 and the upscale Polara 880's.
65 Polara Anyways...it's painted and into assembly. It's in the factory white but with some blue pearl in the Sikkens base/clear.Put new leafs in it with a 4" lift.Since it's a big sled I have a fresh 60 over 1/2" stroked 440 for it...think that is 500 cubes.Bought some of those Chinese aluminum 440 heads ...they are currently at my buddys machine shop getting checked out.Have a 6 pack for induction.Hope to get it on the road mid summer but it still needs tons of $$$ thrown at it...tires...headers,exhaust..seat redo etc etc.Have replated most of the potmetal and that was not as bad as I thought it would be.
65 Polara Oh ya...left the humungus hitch on it...ya never know ! It has a turquoise interior...got the carpet in last week and replaced all the vinyl rear floor covering with carpet ala New Yorker TnC's.It was a typical plain Canadian wagon....added tinted glass all around, power windows, power tailgate window, power vents and power front bench. It's non air and since we don't get alot of humid days anymore since global warming took effect I'm not going to add it.Have all the plastic out getting rechromed in BC right now over at CV Plating.Next step is to try and find some correct turquoise cloth and vinyl material to redo the seats. It's a 6 passenger wagon.
well even tho i cant see the pics here at work... from the descriptions i say...COOL... now i cant wait to see the pics when i get home
Furyman, what a tough challenge! Finding the Canadian upholstery ain't gonna be easy, but have a look in the links in here: http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/local_links.php?catid=5 You've done a super job with the wagon. Really well done. :2_thumbs_up_-_anima
