Congrats!!! What you do first is dependent on what it needs. Make a list and prioritize.

    1. Safety
    2. Reliability

    etc.
    etc.

I`m not a big Ford fan but I`d buy that too. Thats cool looking. What are your plans for it?
Big billet wheels or old skool 1 1/4 whites and spokes?

I want to get it in good running condition.... but beyond that I am clueless. I want redo the interior but its not a priority. I kind of want white wall tires... Externally possibly a new color. With the car being this old I want to prepare myself to replacing the engine & transmission in the near future.
I think I did ok with price all & all. But I am really excited for what ever I do to it.

Congrats:thumbs2:, First thing I would do is make sure that heater is 100% now that winter is coming. White walls and the size you need may be a problem, I ended up putting truck tire on my full size 87. I know a few members were able to get big whites, hope fully they will see this tread and help with that info.

    It's the right color--black.
The 400 in those cars are reliable, torquey and are known to last many miles into the triple digits.Unless the engine is knocking,no need to replace it.
You can swap in a modern F.I. 5.0 or 5.8L/AOD trans out of a Crown Vic or Grand Marquis for better highway MPG.
In the meantime, clean the interior, give her a tune up,jam on some 17" polished alloy wheels, and drive the sh*t out of it.
Congrats on your first wagon.I got my first wagon last month and I am having a blast with it--and I guarantee you will get lots of comments, looks, and put her to work.
Wagons are very handy and I already put mine to work,LOL!!

Right on! Looks like the wagon gods favoured you with a good entry price in the wagonitis syndrome!

Those are good engines, so maybe do a compression test and like Tedy said, check the heater for leaks. Tbird's right, Safety, then reliability.

    Have fun with it.

Mocka, you did very, very well, my friend. That is a gorgeous wagon and looks to be in fine shape. You're going to have so much fun with it; I can't believe you stole it for only $760.00. Excellent job. Best of luck with it.
Coincidentally, there was a brief thread on it. Take a look.
