My buddy Mitch, the guy with the ’76 Caddy Coupe, lost his daily driver Chrysler 300C this morning. Ouch. He was fine though, thankfully, not hurt. Hit in the rear and pushed into the car in front.

He loved that car and took great care of it. Sad.

Always a bummer when one you really love gets messed up, glad he's okay and hopefully it will be restored to its former glory.

That doesn't look too good. Going to be lots of hidden damage on that one.

    Like those wheels he has.....

He thinks it'll be totalled. One rear door will not open and body is kinked below the rear window. It was a Range Rover that hit him.

He bought that car used, and I gave him a hard time about the gold package, wheels, and grill, but he kept it in gorgeous shape and I feel for him. He's sick over it.

I'm glad he was not hurt. One thing for sure, the car did the job and protected him! I am fairly certain your friend is right; that is a write-off. As KK says, there will be plenty of hidden damage, and that car took one Hell of a hit. I would not WANT to have that fixed. I'm betting somewhere north of $10,000 for a full repair.

I don't think they make buffing pads that fluffy.

Yep, the lady driver of the Range Rover was on her phone at the time and got the ticket from the cop.

I've noticed a 'tell' on these rear-ender accidents involving cell phone usage -

It seems that there's very little braking action involved.

Usually when you have a rear-ender, there are some kind of skid marks to show the at-fault driver at least noticed his/her mistake right before impact. There's also evidence of a nose-down attitude due to severe braking from the at-fault vehicle - damage primarily above the level of the bumper. I don't see those factors quite as much it seems when the cell phones are involved. Drivers get very distracted and don't realize how much time has elapsed since they paid attention / looked at the road.

I often wonder jusy how large a ticket these idiots get!!!!!!!!!!!! Whatever the fine is it's not enough! Range Rovers belong in the jungle and people on cell phones belong behind a desk or at least in a house!:banghead3:
