Was in a Dollar Tree store for something else and spotted a Matchbox Vista Cruiser Wagon. Looked a little more and found a 59 Chevy Wagon. Packaging shows they are for 2018 but I had not seen them recently. I do have a similar green with wood grain Vista Cruiser in my collection from when they first came out in the 70's.
We've got at least three Dollar Trees here in Everett; sounds like I need to make a run to them, see what they have.
I wish I still had all my Hot Wheels from my childhood...I had a Vista Cruiser and a handful of Cutlass sedan cop cars, including, funnily enough, three cheap plastic ones that I swear were somehow copycatted off the Hot Wheels unit.
I think “that ‘70’s show” has kept interest alive in the Vista Cruiser model. I love that they stuck the two dogs out of the back of that wagon like they did the Mercury Commuter back in the ‘60’s when they issued it.
Those three cheap Cutlasses were my "Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo" cars...always getting into accidents....
Ha ha. It’s funny you say that. I remember as a kid taking an extra old scratched up ‘59 blue Impala Matchbox and the pink ‘58 Fleetwood Matchbox In the same condition and carefully hammering in the side of the Impala, and the front of the Fleetwood to appear that it T-boned the Impala. The blue ‘61 Ford police car was always at the scene, with the white ‘63 Cadillac ambulance. Speaking for myself, kids were sure simpler back then. I could play for hours on the hardwood floor. You had built in lanes.
Yeah and how many wound up in dear old dads vice. I had a neighbor friend, who’s jerk of an older brother would occasionally flatten his Matchbox cars when they got in an argument.
I also have the '59 Chevy wagon in red and the Vista Cruiser in metallic blue and green w/ wood grain. You could never have enough cool wagons. I recently saw a '57 sedan delivery and 2-dr Handyman wagon at Wallyworld....but didn't pick 'em up...shame on me. I believe they were the Maisto brand. Nicely finished.
