Hey, Thought I would join this forum as I have always been a fan of wagons and have owned a few ('63 rambler wagon, '66 Valiant safari, '71 VJ Valiant wagons x2, 3 Toyota wagons of various late '90's vintage and a late '60's Austin mini van (wagon thing)). I am a mechanic and have been working in Antarctica for nearly 4 years, haven't had much time at home to do anything much car related but am staying home this season . Before I went to work last year I bought a '69 AMC wagon (factory right hand drive) that had been pulled out of a swamp over 20 years ago, the previous owner had done a lot of the mechanical work and didn't want big dollars for it so I had to make the decision..... Sold my Valiant wagon and bought the AMC (had no room ). Have been working solidly on it for two months now, it is now road legal (we have very tough car laws) and have nearly finished painting it, the carpet is almost finished. Has been a lot of long hours but am happy with the result so far. I have to go hunting for a couple of bits and pieces to finish it off which is what led me to this site. Will try to be active in here as it seems like you have a good thing going. Cheers
to the wagon train, lizard. Antarctica!?!? Not for me, thank you.....cold enough here in Wisconsin! What AMC wagon do you have? How about a pic. If your camera isn't frozen!
Hopefully this works, here are some photos of the progress from the beginning to last week. The before photos don't do it justice on how bad it was and I have done a fair amount since the last photo was taken.
Hi Silverfox, It is a '69 Rebel. With all the SST stuff. I have friends in Wisconsin!! Small world eh
wow....thanks for the pix, lizard! Nice work! You sure wouldn't know it was pulled out of a swamp by looking at it now! I like the AMC stuff and I'm happy to hear that you saved a swamp filler. Yup....it's a small world, indeed. Glad you found our wagon family....hope you stick around and become a permanent part of it.
McLizard. Hope you have McFun here on the wagon forum. Nice work on the wagon. Stick around, have a McNugget, and share your toys and ideas.
Oh Crap...... Wrong Toilet...... Thats what they get for putting more than one in the Bathroom..... I love pics....
Welcome Lizard!! Great progression pics!! Really nice wagon, looks like it's coming along very nicely. Enjoy this great forum, lots of wagon nuts here.
Welcome! Love the job you did on that Rebel. That's not something you see very often...and it's a great looking wagon!
Thanks for all the comments ;-) I will put more photos up soon as I start to get the chrome on it and clean it up etc. Still need some parts to complete the job. I am going to relax on the hours a little as I have put over 1000 hours into it since early November. Time to enjoy it a little more now.
