Straight to the point... We aren't getting another car right now. I don't know how long it will be before we do, but someday in the furture when our money situation improves. It wqas a difficult decision and an emotional one to say the least.

I have been on kinda sparsely lately because we have been trying to find out how much I will get in Chicago. As it stands now I will only get the $718 a month for the rest of my life with the addition of Cost Of Living increases that come on a yearly basis based on the housing/rental market and in the three years I have been disabled there has been only one increase and it was only $20 more a month. In the state of Missouri I have had a cap placed on how much I get each month. I am supposed to get $1200-$1300 a month. Apparently the cap will follow me everywhere I go unless I go to California and I am not moving there. The only hope I have of getting more each month is if I qualify for a State Supplement from the state of Illinois, but it won't be much. So with the limited income I get plus what ever Zoe gets from working is all that we will get. Some might ask why we are moving to Chicago. We are going there because it is one of the only places where we can build the future that we want. I have a chance to work on my glass art and Zoe can get the education that she wants and needs. We have a friend up there who is helping us as much as they can but we still have to be able to provide as much on our end as possible. So the money we get from the sale of the KIA will go to much needed things. I need new glasses and a new cane and Zoe needs to get her teeth fixed. Money will also go to clearing up some more of our debts so that we can leave here with a clean slate. The only possible way we could get a Wagon is if we had somewhere to store it and it was cheap to buy. Even still, though, the cost of insurance is high up there.

I'm sorry that I got everybody excited thinking that we were finally in the wagon market. For a part of yesterday we were. But we spent much time yesterday looking at options with our finances and, sadly, there are things that we need to take care of more and need first. I am sorry everybody. The KIA hasn't sold yet but there are a lot of lookers. Thank you all for your help and support that you have all given my family and me with this. My KIA wouldn't be the great car that it is today if it wasn't for all your help, and I wouldn't have learned what I have, either, about care, maintenance, and repair. We are both truly thankful.

    Thank You,
    -X & -Z

We all have to face reality......you, me and KK will continue to be wagon "lurkers" I suppose. Hopefully the wagon owner/lovers here will continue to put up with me for a while also. Good luck with whatever you guys end up doing.

X, I've found things happen for a reason, so do not despair. The day will come when you and Zoe will get the wagon you want, and because you've waited so long for it, will most likely appreciate it all the more. Good luck on the move and life change; I have a good feeling about it.
Just because you're not buying a wagon, don't you even think of not hanging out in the forum. You have to. I know I'm speaking for everyone when I say I always look forward to and thoroughly enjoy your postings. Hang in there. Good things come to he who waits.

I have fell flat on my face twice in the last ten years and had to start all over from not having two nickles to rub together and both times it has worked out because of a good support system in the way of a good wife and a dad that has been better than I could have ever asked for. His means of motivation isn't always gentel and makes you face the harsh reality that sometimes comes with life. As I was always told Every situation is temporary, some just last longer than others. Keep your head up and we can be your outlet and support system. With people like here on your side you can make it thru anything! (y)

Well written snooterbuckets, 1tireman, and others. Don't you dare leave us. We know where you are moving and Chicago isn't very big. We'll hunt you down! After all, how many blue haired guys with a cane are there in Illinois?
Best of luck to you and Zoe on your future.

Xav, there is no need to be sorry for making good sound decisions. The stability of you and Zoe is far more important then having a project or vehicle you just can't afford right now. The wagon you have dreamed of will come to you exactly when it is supposed to. There are many many members who are without or between wagons, it makes no difference to any of us. The passion you have for vehicles is as heart felt as any of us and having you here is far more important than whether or not you have a wagon. The forum family is always here for you and I would'nt want it any other way.

It's good that you've got a clear and cool head about all of this, Xavier. Too many times in the past I've jumped on a vehicle purchase because of my 'I've gotta have it!' impulse, only to find out very quickly it was a big mistake. Lost a lot of money that way.....

Be patient, and something could just fall into your lap - and those are sometimes the best deals of all.

I've been eyeballing a 71 Duster around the corner from my work...good thing I'm broke or it would be up on 55 gallon drums right now.

Vehicles seem to have built in magnets that draw some of us to them.
But we could have worse addictions.

This Duster has been there for about 4 years, a few weeks ago a FOR SALE sign went in the window...I immediately began to drool and drive passed slowly.

If it don't sell fast you are doomed!
I used to see my 55 wagon on the road as I went home from work some mornings. One day I followed the guy home but didn't stop.
After I didn't see it anymore I drove past the house, which was way out of my way home. A for sale add appeared in the paper and I just stopped to look in deep snow and cold. Somehow it followed me home!:slap:
I already had unfinished car projects.

I almost stopped yesterday, there was a mini van in the driveway and a guy was getting stuff out of the back. It was almost unbearable not to go ask.

I just might have to do that, it's piss yellow and a little rough, but hey nothing ventured nothing gained.
