RIP Kirby..... 1999-2011 He recently had front leg elbow surgary, was a complete success and healed very fast. Yet his rear hips and legs were giving out and in the past few days he really got skinny in the hips and rear legs. For some time we had been helping him with stairs to go in and out, I had also built a ramp for him a long time ago to help him in and out of the wagons. This past Saturday we took him to the animal hospital where they did tell us his rear spine and hips are gone and said to us to be prepaired. This morning my honey took him back to the hospital to have his stiches removed and there was concern because he had Deteriorated even faster than they origonaly thought he would, but he was still walking. When my honey got home Kirby wouldn't get out of the van, still had the heart of a pup all smiles and licks but couldnt get up. He had lost complete use of his rear legs, he was parilized in his rear legs. I got home to Kirby, laying in the van, happy as pig is sh**, licks, front paw shakes but he couldn't stand or sit up any more, you could see it in his eyes. And who says dogs don't know, Rascal laying with him looked so sad...... just had to vent... I owe so much to my friend, I just know him and our last pup Bart are wooping it up, in a station wagon in the sky. Kirby and Rascal I luv ya bud........
Man, Tedy, I'm sorry. You never have them in your life long enough and you just can't get enough of them when they're there. He may not be here any more but the love you shared always will be. I'm sorry for the loss of Kirby. He's got his head out the window with the breeze blowing by. -X
damn it ted, had to make me tear up at 4 am! im sorry man. i know to you especially its like losing a child. if only dogs lived as long as parrots, they can outlive their owners. but at least you gave him a good life! Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown...
Oh no!!! I really feel bad for you and your family. I know the feeling. Its a small comfort, but you can always think about all the good times you had together.. A dog just has his predestinated hours to live, and i know that he had the best time he could with you.. And i know also, that he is in good company now, he will run on the hills together with my beloved Hiefer and the beautiful Fagra of mine, just waiting for his loved ones to come along.. Our thoughts is with you, the pain will not go away, byt it will get easier to live with.
Oh Tedy, I'm so sorry to read this about Kirby. It is so hard to loss a great friend. Your house is going to seem so different while you adjust to only four on the floor instead of eight. You may find that you, Honey and Rascal will become even closer as you adjust. I found this to be true when our Lady passed away. Angel became the centre of attention around here and brought us happiness with her antics. We may not be good at putting into words the correct things to help ease your heart and help you understand that most of us can appreicate exactly how you feel. We do feel your pain right now as this has happen to so many who have lost a true friend. It brings our own lost friends back again. As others have already mentioned, recall your favorite times and be glad that you pal had a great home like yours to live in...didn't he have the life that so many other dogs could only hope for?
What a great quote, Ian. Very nice. Damn, Tedy. I am so sorry. I have to say, honestly, that Kirby was my favorite dog. I loved the intelligent look in his eye...like he had life all figured out. He was a wise 'ol guy and when Rascal came along you could almost see in Kirby's eyes that he knew he had to teach the pup about manners and life and he did it simply. By example. Kirby had a wise patience with life and he was more than just a friend to you and your family. He was an integral part of the family. I can't say enough about the loss of my friends best friend. I just don't have the words. But, perhaps you can look to that far away day when you find Rainbow Bridge and can travel the trouble free road forevermore with your best friend and faithful companion.
This and other member's words say it all............ I can't say enough about the loss of a friends best friend. I just don't have the words. But, perhaps you can look to that far away day when you find Rainbow Bridge and can travel the trouble free road forevermore with your best friend and faithful companion.----------- Damned it Tedy, teardrops are falling at our house.
