Hey folks, I got my ‘77 Malibu Classic wagon 2 years ago. Before buying it, I fully intended to turn it into a Di-Noc woodie. Once I had the car I decided I liked the way it looked as it was and decided not to ‘wood’ it. Now I’ve decided to go ahead and make it a woodie. It’s currently at Coastal Classics in NJ getting that done plus some new rubber door seals and new door handles. I’ll post photos when I get the wagon back.

Going with the factory appearance, more or less?

    Hi Marshall!

The woodgrain is from stripeman.com, based on my digital file of scanned original 1978 Malibu Estate Di-Noc. The woodgrain will start in line with the door handles but will not go all the way down to the lower aluminum moldings, nor to the bottom of the rear quarters and front fenders, so that the effect will be to have the woodgrain framed from the top and bottom with the body color. (I always liked how FoMoCo did this with their woodie wagons.) The trim is chrome-look vinyl (think wheel-opening molding thickness). So the look won’t exactly match the factory look but it will be the way I prefer. Starting in the 60’s GM did a lot of wagons where the woodgrain went all the way down to the rockers and it’s mostly just not my taste (except on the 70 - 72 Vista Vruisers). My apologies to the purists,

    Owen
