Help...? My 71' Chevrolet Kingswood Estate decided not to let the right front door open anymore.... (and also the window refuses as well!!) How can I open a door when I cannot open the lock in a normal fashion...? I cannot unscrew the inside panel since the door is closed. So.... HELP!! who can save me.......?!!

Maybe a locksmith could help. It sounds like the door latch is jammed. Make sure the inside door handle is in it's home position. I had a 73 Impala wagon once and the left rear door did this to me. That inside door handle was "stuck" in the pulled out position. If that's not the case, try a locksmith,or a autobody shop.

I know this may sound a bit odd, but you might try giving the door a good push with your backside. (I told you it may sound a bit odd.) One time my door got jammed between totally shut and partially shut. It must've been in a weird position because I couldn't get it to open either. Once I gave it a good hefty shove, (making sure not too hefty as to dent it), it got totally shut and and the handle worked fine ever since.

Yeah, that's worked for me too.

Otherwise, try the other door? Take out the seat, remove the door panel and disconnect the lock and latch levers. Locksmiths charge a good price to do housecalls, but that would save you some time and effort.

you cold friendly ask (for it doesn't cover their regular service; you can entrance the wagon through another door) a ANWB-wegenwacht guy (Dutch AAA)... they do have a tool to open doors from the outside.

What is keeping it from opening? Can you not physically unlock it due to something broke inside? or Can you not physically use the handle because something is broke inside with it?

Your window may be jammed on the locking arm for the door, or something is preventing it from unlocking. I had that problem on a rear door for the 89 Ford but it was the door lock solenoid shifted and pinned the locking arm so the door wouldn't open. I went in through the inside and pulled hard up on the lock knob while the wife opened the door latch. Not very scientific but it worked.

I had the same problem with my 70 Estate - It takes a while but if you remove your A & B piller cover use a 90 degree short screw driver and lay across the seat - you should be able to get to the mounting screws for the door panel and have just enough room to wiggle the door panel out. Then I used a long screw driver to unjar the lock mechanism.

I have same problem with my 76 impala Left rear door. The lock (post?) came off in y hand with door locked. It still has part of the broken plastic attached to it. i didnt think of a locksmith. Good idea, they are only $25 if you look hard enough. I am glad you brought this up. I may try the 90 degree screw driver trick also.
