I'm looking to lower my 63 CP without going to an air suspension setup. Does anyone know if I can get it down low with modified springs and still ride decent? I'm considering lowered Ford Galaxie springs if they'll fit.

I don't have the specifics but I do know that you may get into tire/fender issues with 15s. My car had 75 something 15s when I got it and evidence of tires hitting the fenders. I now have the factory offset and 14s. I could go a little lower now and clear. I am not sure how it would hanlde though.

Mike, does it have coil springs all the way around or coils and leafs, or tortions? I personally like my slammed wagon, when I had my static drop (non adjustable) my car rode just fine, it does take a little bit of finesse. Even if it is "queer" looking.

Awesome wagon! I can't provide any input to help you out. But think it'll look great lowered. Keep us updated, and provide some after pics!

How low are you looking to go? Do you have coils all around? If you are after a little drop you can cut the factory springs. The key here is not to get too crazy. Don't cut the spring in half and expect it to be awesome. If you limit yourself to 1-1.5 coils you should be okay (depending on how much coil separation there is on the springs). What do you have available in terms of aftermarket shocks?

Kevin is exactly right here, springs can be cut properly and ride just fine, as a rule of thumb I allow 2" of drop for one full coil wind, plus then I allow the spring to settle for about 2 weeks before any additional trimming is done. Leaf springs can be destacked or a block can be added. I have also seen cars go down as much as 4" and still run the factory shocks without an issue.

It looks like the car is sitting way too high in the rear to me.
If you lower the rear to where the rocker panels are level with the ground the car would look a lot lower and better IMO.
