Newbie from Philadelphia. Not much to say on the station wagon front. I learned to drive on a 67 Biscayne wagon, 283, 3 on the tree, gold with little chevy hubcaps. Currently, my wagon life consists of a 2000 Subaru Outback. Not too inspiring but rather useful. I found this site while looking for a 73 Caprice Estate Classic wagon. Don't ask why.
Welcome aboard! Now come on, you know we're gonna ask why.... what's the deal with the '73 Caprice Estate Wagon? Who had one in your past?
Actually there are a few Suby folks around here...somewhere??? "73 Caprice Estate wagon now that sounds inspiring...sooooo why? Come on you might as well fill us in...inquiring minds want to know. aboard by the way.
Welcome to the nuthouse we call home. You'll fit right in! Let's see pictures of the Subie, for now. It is a wagon, after all! Good luck with the hunt for a 73. Check the eBay/Craigslist section. They do turn up with some regularity. It is always interesting to watch the comments fly about these wagons, too, as some of the members are exceedingly knowledgeable about them.
Welcome to the SWF, kwakanut! (Love that name....) GM clamshells are still out there, as evidenced by our selection in the 'E-Bay, Craig's List, etc...' section of the forum. Finding one that you want is a bit tougher. I would suggest expanding your criteria around 2/3 model years, and perhaps accepting all models as well (Brookwood/Townsman/Kingswood, etc). Otherwise, you might be looking for a long time. Good luck with your search. Marshall
to the group. 73 Caprice Estate Classic wagon. Don't ask why Ours is not to ask where, when, or why..................... but to help find that Caprice wagon. You came to the right place. Good luck.
Welcome Kwaka. If you're really a nut, you'll fit right in here with the rest of us. You should be able to find your '73 if you just keep looking. They're out there; keep an eye out on craig's list and ebay. We'll do the same for you.
Hey thanks everyone for the words of welcome! I have to confess that I'm not actually looking to buy a 73. The one we had was a dog so no fond memories of that particular vehicle. Oddly it just popped into my head the other day so I thought I'd look to see if any were around and wound up here. Our 73 was brown with wood panels and electric everything, much of which did not work a lot of the time. I'm probably off on the dates, but I think we got it in 76 or so from my grandfather. We sold it and bought a 79 subaru 4wd wagon. The last year of the ugly ones, so naturally I love those! I would like to find that 67 Biscayne though. I'll try to get a pic or two of the Subie up. As for the name, that comes from one of my other passions: Kawasakis and Ducatis.
