Hello, I introduce myself Laurent and I just bought my first American car an 71' Ford Country Squire. I’m from the Southwest of France and sorry I don’t speak English too well. Translate google is my friend I registered on your forum to find much information on this car and to share with you to enjoy your experience. Hoping to hear from you soon
Bounjour et bienvenue! C'est toujours un peut drole de voir les grand voitures american en europe, mais s'est jolie de le voir avec des j'ens qui vons les aimer!
Welcome. Beautiful car. Did you bring it over from the US or was it originally sold in Europe? The lines of the rear doors and the front end look identical to our 1972 Mercury Montego wagons and quite different from our 1972 Country Squires. Montego: Country Squire: Note the straight slope of the Montego window sills v.s the bend in the Country Squire. Also that beautiful instrument panel was a characteristic of the mid size FoMoCo cars like the Montego and Torino and as far as I know not used on the full size cars. Makes me wonder if the export models were branded differently than the US cars. In any case you have a wonderful looking car that anyone would be proud to own. mike
welcome to the forums.. heh i remember when we lived in europe back in the early 80's my dad sold his 67 catalina wagon to a Mercedies dealer. so there is a 67 gto/catalina wagon somewhere over there.. anyway congrats on your yanktank.
Hi, Thank you all for your welcome I don’t know the history of this car, I bought it in France. I’ll try to find more information about it. Indeed Mashaffer, I think it’s a Mercury Montego with a Country Squire gray card (gray card = certificate of title in US ??) and there Montego MX marked on the dashboard. I’ll take more pictures of the car to show you
Welcome, Laurent, to the Station Wagon Forum. Based on your pics, I would say your wagon is actually a 1973 Mercury Montego MX station wagon. A 1971 Montego would have looked like this: http://www.lov2xlr8.no/brochures/mercury/71mer/bilder/15.jpg Here's a link to a brochure for the 1973 Mercurys. No wagons in this brochure, but there are some Montegos, so you can see how the front end matches yours. http://www.lov2xlr8.no/brochures/mercury/73mer/73mer.html Marshall
Hello Laurent i live in France too. I have a 69 Buick Sport Wagon. You own a nice wagon but it's definitively a 1973 Mercury Montego.
