Hi all, I've been a member of the forum for a while but have recently acquired a wagon after looking for ages. She's a 63 Falcon and I love her! I had an 87 Ford Ranger which was great for hauling camping gear, kids and dogs around but really wanted a wagon...... Got lots to do, bodywork especially but can't wait to get into it. Need weatherstripping, body parts etc, any recommended suppliers who can ship to the UK?
Thanks for the welcomes. Car originally from Canada, shipped from Montreal to Southampton in July 63. I have a huge box of papers including invoice from Ford Canada to first owner, a Captain at NATO Staff College in Ontario, who shipped it to UK when posted here with Royal Marines? Actually a 62 model Ranchwagon got lots of receipts for parts and servicing from the 60's and 70's, really interesting to find out its past. She was resprayed about 12 yrs ago but has been sitting outside since so paint and door seals etc poor. Wanted to get running for a big car show this coming weekend but carb issues mean probably not.......
What a great history. As long as you get your car running enough to get to the show, you can just bring some tools and someone there will tune your carb up for you. Assuming it doesn't need rebuilt or anything. They love to show off their knowledge and be helpful at the same time. I don't mean arrogant showing off, more like getting to talk about and use their knowledge with someone who appreciates it.
Nice Falcon Herb. Welcome to the forum. You've probably figured out by now tha your grill is actually from a '62 Falcon. Here's the '63:
...like we another Falcon on here......WHY YES WE DOO Herb congrats on the buy !! Ive got a 61,a 62, and a 63...so dude...I get it has it still got the 170c/in in it?....if so that carbs cheap new
Thanks for all the positive comments guys. I am SO pleased with my wagon... just want to get her running right and tidied up a bit. Got the original 144 ci six with 3 on the tree.. the mirrors on the front wings were normal on british cars in the 60's and 70's? Speedo in mph.
Herb, I've always wondered how in the world does one adjust those mirrors? I guess it must be a two man job, right, where somebody else adjusts them while the driver remains in his seat. Must be a bummer if the car has multiple drivers. Thank the car gods that they finally came up with remote control.
