Hi folks. Sorry if my subject line doesn't make any sense but I'm listening to Harry Chapin at the moment I don't have a station wagon or Station Dragon as my brother always called them but I've always appreciated them. We only had one wagon when I was a kid .. it was a 68 Impala with a 327 and was kind of mist green with black interior. I remember going to the drive-in in the summers in that car and riding in my friends parents station wagons at the time so I've always appreciated them and wanted one for as long as I've been playing with cars. When the time and car is right I will one day hopefully. I'm a Mopar guy which is probably obvious that's my first love but I really appreciate all cars and especially mid 60's and early 70's Fords too. My ideal long roof would probably be a 69-70 Monaco or another Fusie, a nice Slab, or a 68-70 Plymouth or Dodge B body. Anyway I hope to fit in here with you guys. I'm usually hanging out at FCBO, FBBO, or other Mopar sites but will continue to check in from time to time to check out your rides and may post up so parts for sale although I don't have any Wagon specific stuff. Just clearing out years of hording and trying to make more space before someone else has too. Anyway thanks for the site and I apologize for not saying Hi sooner
Honey I'm Home Hello honey from an ex Illinois member. What's the secret word? Where in the world is Mascoutah, IL? We are in Floriduuu and relocating back to Pekin. Spent many evenings at the drive in movies in wagons and cars. Good luck on finding a nice station wagon to play with.
Love it Model T! Mr Fenneman say's it's "Longwagons" Mascoutah is about 40 min from Busch Stadium home of the St Louis Cardinals! Our closest Drive-In is the Skyview in Belleville, IL http://www.skyview-drive-in.com/movie_listing_00.htm I reckon the right wagon will find me one day Thanks for the welcome !
Thanks tallhair for that interesting info about the driven-inn theater. We got lost in the 50's reading about it. I don't believe we've been to that drive in movie but hopefully someday we can make it. Seems very handy for food and getting there. I'd guessed you might be in the St louis area but wasn't sure. Bought the eagle radiator cap for my 1933 Chevy in E. St. Louis during a bad time for that city. Back when we were young, right after horse and buggies, we'd stop at the corner drive-in diner and pick up a couple chicken-in-the-box meals and a big bottle of soda, girlfriend made a large bag full of popcorn, and enough snacks for a small Army, and we were ready to snuggle for the evening. I remember once we actually watched a show. Since retiring to Florida I've taken that same girlfriend to a drive-in movie near Kenosha, Wisc. and Ocala, Florida. It's something a lot of people never get to do and are really missing the fun of it. As others commented on Yelp it's hard to find a bargain where a family can take kids without going broke. I clicked off the page back to my Yelp home page. Some of us members belong to that also when we want to discuse fine dining. Wagon members are a mixed breed of people doing what wagon lovers have always done, enjoying family life.
I'm thinking we're blood brother's Model T I've been to several in different parts of the country and enjoyed the freedom of bringing our own fried chicken, popcorn, candies, and a case of cool beverages for the family .. and of course these in the days when I was a youngster. And I always enjoyed the intermission https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3N_ELRw7ZI
Glad your finally home Honey We've been wondering when you'd get here. Me and little ShortHair are doing just fine but we missed you. Did you remember the milk that you went for a year ago? Just kidding around home.
fannie this is completely off topic but I do my best writing off topic. Many years ago a friend left his wife waiting at home while he went out for tacos. We saw him about ten years later with another wife. He still didn't have the tacos!
tallhair we rode on the Trail of Tears many times, up and down the lower Great River Road dodging turtles and frogs, and camped all over southern Illinois. So some of it may have rubbed off. I always thought it was poison ivey!
