Hello, I am new to the site and wanted to introduce myself. I have a 1963 tempest wagon and have owned it for six years and really enjoy it. I restore cars for a living but somehow haven't restored my own yet. Glad to be a part of your site. Thanks
I know many folks who work on others cars and then their own sit like forlorn children awaiting the day when it is their turn. Hopefully you will get a chance to get it done - a great way to show off your skills and enjoy the fruits of your labors at the same time. Glad you found the forums.
to the wagon train, probird. Those are nice wagons! Hey....the shoe makers kids are always bare foot!!
The old shoemaker's story, huh? Barefoot. Welcome aboard. We're nutz most of the time, and handsome, intelligent, humble, charming, and witty the rest! Kind of like a Tempest in a teapot...
I saw the pictures in the gallery. Nice Tempest. I didn't know the 63's still had the rear transaxle. Very cool.
Nice wagon; welcome to the forums. I don't remember seeing alot of Tempest wagons back then, so it's probably pretty rare.
Welcome to the forum, Pro. Those early Tempests were very unique, and pretty rare now. The 4-cyl is half of a 389 V8. ( I think it even uses the same pistons.) Rear transaxle; a flexible driveshaft, IIRC. My first car was a '63 Oldsmobile F-85 Cutlass, back in '69. Related to the Tempest, but a lot of differences as well....... As far as I know, you're out first early Tempest wagon owner/member. Good luck with the resto. Marshall
