Hi everybody ! I'm a new guy to this website from just outside Seattle, Wa....a little computer challenged, but I'll give it my best !! I have two 1962 Plymouth Valiant wagons...One that is a rolling chassis parts car and another with original paint, original interior, lowered with a 360 - 4 barrel, column shift a/t, disc brakes, 17x9 Torque Thrust type 5 spoke wheels all around. It's cool to me and I get ALOT of weird looks when I'm out cruising............ALL wagons are VERY cool !! Will post pics as soon as I figure how to........................soon !! Enjoy your rides everybody !!
Welcome to the madness Mopar! Yep, you already know how these folks demand around here. Sounds like a great project, keep us informed.
love the 1st generation Valiants. And the /6 with a little tweeking and care will live forever Too bad Mother never figured out how to put the donut on the T-Gate BTW, Jer
Welcome, moparlongroof (MLR?) Glad you joined up. I frequent the A-body forum on occasion (very few posts, though), and don't remember you from over there (but if I saw a pic of your wagon I would). Was thinking recently about getting one of these Exner beautys. There's a purple and gray monstrosity for sale in the Salem, Oregon area, and a fairly nice red Lancer down in the Redding, California area. In the end I just decided they were a bit too much of a 'project' for me. Really looking forward to your input here, as I don't think we have any other early A-body owners yet. Again, Welcome! Marshall
Welcome! Did your Valiant originally come with a manual, thus no push-button transmission selector, or did you decide to convert from push-button to column-selector? The disc brakes make it much safer to drive, I'm sure. Did you use a kit from a company like Wilwood Engineering, or did you do a conversion from a parts car?
Chrysler Corp had all push-button selectors for automatics back then. They dropped the push-buttons and went to a column selector for the 1965 model year. 'MLR' probably substituted a later model column when he did his engine swap.
I made some new friends here it seems.........!!! Hi everybody ! Thanks for the outpouring of welcoming me to this site !! I've got my nephew coming over this weekend to show me how to download some pics of my wagon...please be patient. BUT......for now, if you check out the website- "valiantville " , you will see two pics of my ' 62 Valiant wagon there...just click onto the pics for a bigger picture. The disc brakes/spindles are from '75 Duster along with the matching 8-1/4' rear axle so that I would have a 4-1/2" bolt pattern all around, 11x3 C-body rear brakes, KYB gas shocks, 360 - 4 barrel, 904 trans (a 727 would have been used, but that would require major reworking of the tranny tunnel), 17x9 Vintage Wheel Works 5 spoke wheels (they look like AR Torque Thrusts) with 45 series tires, flowmasters, 75% original paint, very nice original interior (except carpet). I enjoy buzzing around in it, not really a show car, but I sure get some strange looks.......................suits me just fine !! Recently at a intersection waiting for a light to change, a new, high end Porsche pulled up along side of me. Four high school age girls that were crossing the street were screaming how cool the car was !! The Porsche owner acknowledged with a hand wave when one the girls screamed " NOT YOUR CAR.....THE CUTE WAGON IS THE COOL CAR !! The light turns green and the Porsche owner peels out in disgust.....true story !! That incident made me smile......I love my old Valiant wagon !! WAGONS RULE !!!
