I'm glad you said 'Happy Independence Day', Leadsled, because I've got a pet peeve with people (like my sister) who say, "Happy July 4th!"
That's like saying, "Merry December 25th!"

Wife gave me the choice of BBQ-ing burgers or chicken. I chose the chicken.

I did burgers and hot dogs. Used a George Foreman outdoor grill. It didn't smoke the meats, but they all cooked up nicely

We had family over for a barbeque. When it got dark we drove the Fury up above our house on a nice paved road to watch the city's firework display. The boys and their dog were in the back ohing and ahing. I even had Ray Charles singing "America the Beautiful" playing. It was fantastic. I took a photo, but unfortunately you couldn't really see much aside from the distant city lights. We had a great time.
I hope you all had a good time as well.

I've always thought I'd like to try water skiing.

Sounds like you all enjoyed your Independence Day. If the weather was as good as in the picture above the bbqing must have been fine.
I took a weeks vacation and went to the cottage with our daughter. We work pretty hard for four days getting the place ready for Canada day and the weekend. The weather was prefect all week including the weekend. We (I) had a great time, visiting, bbqing and the town's celebrations, parade, games and the fireworks were shot off right across the lake from our cottage, we sat on the deck sipping beverages and chatting with the neighbours. I have pictures on my phone but haven't figured out how to get them from there to here yet...guess that's why it's called a smart phone...

Damned weather here in the Pacific Northwest, especially on the coast and Puget Sound, was cloudy. There was some patches of blue peeking through at midday, but it closed back up after a while. Typical Washington weather this time of year.
