Howdy! I was lucky enough (thanks to my dad) to attend an auction this summer where I was high bidder on a 1967 Belvedere II wagon. It was originally from Florida and with the extensive pile of parts visible in the back, I saw it was pretty much all there. It was in primer and looked rough but the worst of it was on the floorboards which I have patched. Now, about 3 months later, It has a new paint job which required a little filling, nothing major, looks pretty good I think. I have had the radiator re-cored retaining the original brass tanks. I have had the gas tank re-conditioned and it is back in place. All fluids have been changed and the engine tuned up. The engine is the original 318 2bbl and seems pretty good on gas while having enough power to let this sled keep up with traffic! Aside from needing some carb work, it runs and drives real nice! I've just finished going over the brakes as well, having turned front drums, replaced the shoes and re-built all the wheel cylinders. Need to final bleed the brakes and bolt on the "Magnum" wheels I found through my girlfriend's uncle Dan. He's on here too I think but I don't know his moniker. Thanks again for the wheels Dan, I spent a day detailing them out, they look great! I still want to tint the rear glass from rear pass. doors back and install new carpet. I also need a side mirror on pass. side and an antenna, any pointers there would be welcome. Saw a mirror online for 120$, think I'll pass. Also have some issues with the climate controls. The whole system was dis-assembled and piled in the back but I have it pretty much back together. It was originally air-conditioned but the compressor, condensor & brackets are gone. All the vents are vacuum operated, what a puzzle. Any help on that would be appreciated as well. Old wagons are cool! Cheers!
to the forum. Great intro and nice wagon project. Tell uncle Dan to check in now and then and tell us what he's up to. Have fun here and good luck.
From NE OHIO Thank you both for the comments! I like that green on the Satellite as well! And to the one in FL, I am truly humbled! Stay tuned, gonna try to hunt down ole uncle Dan. He has a "62 Plymouth wagon that he's going ground up on!
cfurb. Great intro, you have been a busy boy. Do you know the name of the color green on your wagon? Your car is really looking good, do you have interior pics?
color To Fannie: I was told by the guy who mixed the paint that this was Sherwood Green. He said it was an OEM color from the early '70's. My online searching related to this car is a blur but I somehow I remember confirming that...don't ask how 'cause I forget! My painter first sprayed the center of each side with a bright gold metallic he had left from a dune buggy project, it is subdued in shadow but kinda pops in the sunlight! As far as interior pics I have none at this point. Garage is kinda dark.. I found dark grey leather seats from an '80s Chrysler in good shape pretty cheap and installed them with some light fab. The front seat is even power and works! Gonna get black carpet but can't seem to find anything "fitted" for a 4 door or wagon. Any input on that issue would be welcome! Thanks for the nice comment!
$120 iz about the going rate for side mirrorz.to the group BTW. Where are you in OH-HI-AH. I've got a mid '60s B-body compressor W/ bracket that I'll give yeah if we can hook up. And I can probably point you in the rite dirrection for B-body idler pulley and brackets and condensor or after market for Mopar to if you'd like. Stick with me kid and I'll keep yeah broke 'cept for the compressor
Wow! Really? 120$ for a mirror seems a bit steep...hope to find one for 50$ or less, maybe at Mopar Nationals next year. I would be interested in your compressor, maybe we could meet for coffe or a beer somewhere..I'm buying! I am just a bit south of Canton, OH..near New Philadelphia..let me know..
Re-pops run 'tween $100 and $125. Haven't been shopping at the "NATS" lately have we? 'Bout the same at Carlisle You might try Wooster fair grounds come next may. Lemme call a B-body guy that wheels 'n deals partz up north and west of Flint,Mi. When I say he Wheels 'n Deals I mean he keeps his over flow stock in a warehouse in Oklahoma City How perfect does it have to be? BTW, Nothin' in it for me. If he's got one I'll hook you two up, Jerry...Doeno what tah tell yeah on the compressor. The Football Hall of Fame iz almost 4 hours for me! And that puppy weighs 20*s+ with the cast iron bracket on it. How far are yeah from Tiffin, Oh.?I've got a car-bud there that has over 1000 carz in his own mopar yard.
Was at the Nationals this year actually and picked up an OEM air cleaner...with element for only 20$!! Didn't even need to paint it! Was only a few weeks into things at that point, didn't know what all I needed. I think the same guy had some mirrors...hoping he's there next year. Sounds like you got a lot of contacts, I really appreciate your willingness to help, gotta keep in touch. Tiffin is probably 2-2 and half hours, I could do that at some point I'm sure. Any one like this you could hook me up with would be great..thanks!!
Glad to see another Belvedere wagon on here. Welcome aboard. Looks like you're way ahead of me. My Belvedere wagon doesn't look near that nice. Yet. Mine is also originally from Florida.
