    Hi all,

Found a parts car with power door locks, a '68 Caprice. I know GM used electric for '70 and later, and I have seen 3 parted '69's (2 A-bods and a B-bod) that were vacuum. Does anyone know if a '68 GM full size (Impala, Caprice) was vacuum or electric?

If it is vac I won't persue it, but if it is electric I may be interested.

    Thank you for any input,
    Tom

weird ... i have a 67 grand prix and its electric.

but i imagine if you were to pop the little rubber conduit/boot between the door and body loose and see if there is a vac hose in it that would tell you what you are dealing with.

Thank you, Yuk, that is the info I am trying to find, based on owners real experiences.

I have not looked at the remains, only spoken with the owner on the phone. If the locks are electric, it is a plus and I would pay more for the wreck, but right know I don't know if it even worth looking at. Don't need the shell, just the lock system.

Anyone with a '68 Chevy (or GM) full size with info?

    Thank you,
    Tom

The '68 Fisher Body service manual covers vacuum door locks and has nothing about power door locks.

    Hello BV,

Wellll, that pretty much sums it up I guess. If anyone has a Caprice with electric locks, lemme know. Otherwise, that carcass looks like a pass.

    Thank you all,
    Tom

FYI: My 68 Wildcat (=B body) has vacuum switches

I think my grandmother's 68 Cadillac Calais were vacuum but not 100% sure.
