Does anyone have a schematic or a write-up on how to change a generator over to an alternator on an old ford 289? I'm wanting to upgrade to halogen headlights, bigger stereo, etc and would like the advantages of an alternator setup. Thanks.

I just swapped in a 3G alternator, I highly recommend it.
I'm not familiar enough with the generator setup to be able to offer complete advice.
    I have a Duraspark ignition.
You'll find more specific info to your situation on the classic mustang sites.
