Went to a medium-sized car show today. As I usually do, I only took pictures of the wagons (or sometimes something that's really different - nothing in that category today) First we have this chopped Plymouth Cranbrook wagon. Not sure on the year - '52 to '54 I assume... Done really well Next up, we have a very nice 1969 Pontiac Custom S wagon. No - it's not a 'Tempest' or a 'LeMans'. It's a 'Custom S' I saved the best for last. Almost missed this one, because it was down at the end of a long line of cars that I was going to skip. Glad I didn't...... This is a one-owner 1966 Chevrolet Impala wagon - Special ordered from the factory with a 427 and a 4-speed.
For '69, Pontiac called their mid-sizers (in order of cost) Tempest, Custom S, LeMans, GTO. So a 'Tempest' might have have the same body as a LeMans, but you wouldn't find the name 'LeMans' anywhere on it. The wagons were only available in 'Custom S' and LeMans' trim.
Those are some neat wagons. I like the 427 Chevy best followed by the Custom S, both June "unapproved" but I don't care. Were those Pontiac hood scoops on the car from the factory? I don't think so..........naughty, naughty!
Man you really did save the best for last! That Imp is plain awesome. So is the Pontiac. But for some reason, I can't bring myself to like the Plymouth. Something about it throws me off.
Well technically the hood is from the factory, but it wouldn't have come with the vehicle - it's off of a GTO. Yeah, the Plymouth isn't my cup of tea, either. I generally don't like 'chopped' vehicles - just my peculiarity. Never did find out what engine was in the Plymouth. If I had to guess, I'd say maybe a 318......
