Found this one at the antique store the day after Thanksgiving. My oldest son actually spotted it and purchased it for himself. It looks like about a 1969 Country Squire from what I can tell. It's pretty neat. I told him he needed to take care of this one and not let it wind up in the toy chest with all of the other toy cars.

About what size is that? 1/64th? Or 'Matchbox'-sized?

Yeah it’s a 1/64 it’s actually a Matchbox knockoff of their ‘68 Mercury Commuter wagon. The maker should be on the bottom, underneath. Can’t tell from here, but are there 2 dogs in the back window? That was originally on the Matchbox model. I guess with the wood it would be a Colony Park knockoff. Those also look like Maisto wheels. Not sure of the manufacturer but they did copy a lot of the Matchbox cars. As a sidebar the ‘68 Commuter was kinda nice detail for a 1/64. They also issued a ‘77 Cougar Villager, in almost the same green color. Also a cute Matchbox.

I don't think there are any Dogs. I'll take some additional photos of it and post em.
It's a pretty cool car. Had good heft to it, not like a lot of the knock offs that are so paper thin.

Yeah it’s not a common 1/64 so if your son was like me growing up, cars that I really loved had a special garage (separated case). That’s why I know so much about the Commuter. It was in that ilk. If your son loves those wagons like the old man, you should check out the cool 1/64 ‘79 Country Squire (Blue) and the ‘85 Country Squire (beige) from Greenlight. They have a whole series called Estate wagons. They’re going to issue a non woody ‘86 Crown Vic wagon and an ‘89 Colony Park in the next series. Nice detail there too.

He's promised me he'll take care of it. It's currently sitting on the shelf in his room with the rest of his treasures. The main concern is if his little brother gets a hold of it and then Mom cleans up after him and tosses it into the toy chest. But, he paid the $6.50 for it with his own money, so I'm leaving it up to him.

Oh interesting. That is almost the same front end they used on a 1972 Thunderbird model. Yeah this Fury is on Craigslist/Albuquerque. Do you mind looking at it and let me know your thoughts? Interesting the guy had a matching ‘62 Vallient.

Welcome sandchaser! What is cool. The Country Squire or the ‘62 Fury?

    Yes to both....

The underside I've seen before, kind of like a trademark in and of itself, but my mush of a brain won't tell me where I've seen it before.
