You folks may have seen this on the news last night. It's in West, which is about 70 miles north from us. It's between Waco and Dallas. Nowhere near us thankfully. West is actually one of out main rest-stops when driving up to Dallas to see the in-laws. There is an outstanding bakery called the Czech Stop in West where we normally stop....and I sadly admit the first thing that popped in my head was "Oh no, the Czech Stop!" Always thinking with my stomach.... My in-laws, who live about 50-miles north of there, just south of Dallas in Red Oak, actually felt the blast and thought it was an earthquake. Never a dull moment. Scary Stuff! This pic was taken in the parking lot of the Czech Stop Bakery in West. We always stop here on Dallas trips, it's right on I-35. This is looking north over the Sonic drive-in. I would have thought we were being invaded. Looks like something from a movie! -Mike
That's just brutal. News I have heard was so far 15 dead and over 160 injured, some critical. The blast was so strong it registered 2.1 on the rector scale.
Still doing house to house searches as of this morning and some firefighters unaccounted for. Awful. We had a awful explosion at a sugar refinery in Savannah in 2008 that killed 13 and injured 42. Dust explosion on the conveyor belts.
Very sad for everyone. Just watching it on CNN Live - my gosh, what a horrible thing to happen. The world seems pretty cruel some days doesn't it? We all seem to have our little problems and then you see something like this, and Boston, and all the other stuff going on around the world, and our little problems look almost like blessings they are so small in comparison. Glad no one in your life was involved Mike.
Aaahhhh.... It happened in West, Texas. All day I have been thinking it happened in West Texas. I physically flinched when I first saw the videos of this. Holy %$#*!
You mean Richter Scale. It has nothing to do with rectums Experts are debating if it was coincidental to the nearby Waco Compound invasion of some 20 or so years ago. That this happened just after the Boston Marathon bombing is also food for thought to feed us bench detectives
No further comment! I visualize that explosion in Gainesville or Ocala, Florida, 45 to 60 miles away. WOW ! Back home in central Illinois I can think of two very big explosions which killed several at each. One at a large factory that made liquer. The other stored grain. I do remember hearing, feeling, and seeing what happened from several miles away. We don't realize the dangers near us at all times.
Back around 1976 or so, Marcia and I were living in an apartment in Hawthorne, CA. We were home one day when we suddenly experienced a large shock wave. Seemed like a sonic boom, but also a bit different. Found out on the news later that it was a freighter down in the San Pedro harbor, about 20 miles south, that blew up. Some dry powder substance was the cargo, and the dust got a spark. Here's an article on it: http://framework.latimes.com/2010/12/17/inferno-in-the-harbor/#/0
It depends on the rector, Sir http://newsfeed.time.com/2013/01/22/meth-priest-suspended-for-transvestite-rectory-sex/
Here we go again into religion. In the comments of the above story was this tiny note. The Catholic church is the world's largest organized child rape crime syndicate. No one else is even close. You may doubt this. But dig deeper. When my aunt died around 21 years ago, I found among her things a very old thick book warning the public about the Catholic church and it's conduct. Very detailed and interesting. Very scary. My aunt or her family were not Catholic so I have no idea where or why she had that book. It was so fascinating I read it cover to cover. Sadly everything I read is happening today. I'm not here to debate, prove or disprove that book. Only to mention some strange things have always happened within the walls of the Catholic church and continue today. Believe what you want. For the past 20+ years since reading the book, I've read about many of the warnings such as this one happening. No further comment about this.
Now, you know why your aunt didn't convert to Catholocism. The new Pope, however, has pledged to take action against the entire filth. Let's wait and see. I was baptized Catholic myself. However, as long as heterosexual celibacy remains in practice, I will keep my distance to that church
