Attached is a link to the H.A.M.B. forum and a thread about drag racing wagons.
Some pretty neat nostalgic drag wagons and a cool trip back in time. Have fun.

I know to some on the board will feel like they ruined good wagons to strip them down and fire them up, but you have to remember back when most were put together, they were nothing but tired old cars.

One of the posts on the very first page of the thread features a drawing (painting?) done by our very own Mark Ervin....

And I believe this is a video of the real life station wagon that Mark's drawing is based on:

Did somebody here own this wagon? Seems vaguely familiar....

Yes they were just worn out or cheap cars. In a way we have to thank some of those racers for saving wagons that most likely would have been scrapped by now. Mine truly was a handyman's wagon parked to rot away when another hotrodder drug it home to build his toy. The owner, more into trucks, I followed it home and eventually bought it. Never a racer that I know of.

Got a good one for y'all: I once worked with an automotive machinist named Mark Chapman. He and his brother are direct descendants of the famous American folklore hero "Johnny Appleseed" Chapman. They also had the distinction of an unhealthy interest in the Olds 5.7L diesel engines. Mark knew those engines up one side and down the other, and could get more miles from them than ordinary owners ever could. So one time, when both he and his brother were out at then-Seattle International Raceway, they both had driven their Olds diesel wagons; so on a lark, they entered the cars in the "Run what'cha Brung" races, and arranged to go head-to-head against each other. His brother's wife was filming with an 8mm camera, and got all the (yawn!) lack of action on film, which Mark showed me. When they ran, they both were just so slow! All I can remember is that their race was 23 or so seconds, and Mark's brother's wife filmed the crowd booing and jeering!

That wagon belongs to a guy well know in the Pontiac world- Jim Hand. Not a member here, as far as I know.

I'd rather have a Grocery Getter than a Draggin Waggin. Arnie Beswick was a local hero when I was in high school.

Yep Wally World came and Piggly Wiggly, several hardware stores, and others vanished. Buy American buy from Sam. Now that Sam is gone so are American products. The fish we eat comes from Chinese ponds fed by chickens in cages above the water.:slap:

Vintage Draggin Wagons are cooler than cool. But as far as this thread goes, I have a personal favorite ;)

I have a couple of cool old pictures of my uncle's 62 Plymouth Stock Eliminator wagon from the 70's. I will post them up.
