Wonder why that concept has all but disappeared? The 360 maneuverability is brilliant. I've parked my father's truck/5th wheel before. Not fun.
I remember seeing that video quite some time ago. Looks like a real promising rig (for the 70's). It must have been developed in Europe, otherwise we would have seen more of them here in the U.S. --- Any of our buddies from across the pond ever seen this? The only thing I would worry about is the attachment of the hitch receiver to the roof of the car....how much stress is exerted on it?
Thats what I thought. I suppose if the car was purpose-built for it with additional structural support it would be fine.
Let's see...tow a vehicle behind a Beetle (dumb in itself!), with a hitch system that essentially clamps to the freaking RAIN GUTTERS of the Beetle...oh, yeah, there is an accident waiting to happen! Wait, they probably DID, and that's why you don't see these marvels of engineering on the road anywhere these days!
