Hate it when that happens. The pix above were all the same size as the last one when I copied them. Guess I'll delete the billboards.

So many dutch people moved to Canada in the past... Why didn't my parents/grandparents...? Beautiful landscapes, mountains, lakes... Holland is so small... we are living in almost the least populated part of the Netherlands but everywhere you look you can see a house or farm...
This is our view... to dutch standard we can't complain, but to Canadian standards this is not spectacular.

Yeah, I know this is off topic, it is not Canada at all...
I showed Maarten the Canadian pictures and we decided we will go to Canada as soon as Duke is old enough to come with us...

We(my older sister) and I went, two summers ago to Alberta. Our younger sister was having a special birthday. She picked us up at Calgary, Alberta airport and we went to Cammore, Albert. We stayed a couple of days. Then...

we went to Lake Louise and Banff (pictures already posted). The lake is really that color, it has to do with the minerals in the lake...absolutely gorgeous! And the gondola was amazing...we all have a far of heights. When it was time for lunch I told them I had already made reservations for us...at the top  so off we went, it was unforgetable!:49: There was no reservations...I lied

Fox, the first pic is of Waterton, which is on the Canadian (Alberta) side of the Glacier National Park in Montana, and the neat old hotel there was constructed by the Canadian Pacific Railway way back and has been lovingly maintained over the years. We used to know one of the owners for a time but it has passed hands many times over the years. We lived 90 minutes east of there until we decided we needed to live on the west coast, still in the mountains sorta.

We live about fifteen minutes from Rev's, and are a ferry ride away from Tedy's which may seem simple and it is likely 40 miles max, but it will take most of a day with the ferry system, etc. Most of our holidays are spent traveling through this scenery and we have never tired of it. As kids my family had a cottage with a few acres on a lake in central BC that was to us kids pure heaven and I suspect our parents had the same feeling.

One thing you do is you make darned sure your car is up to snuff, particularly when towing a trailer :2_thumbs_up_-_anima. The conversion to disc brakes on the Safari was a no-brainer.

We are very fortunate to live in this type of environment. We lucked out I guess.

Fanny - if you were at Lake Louise you saw the old hotel there. It is one of the chain that the railway made that included the first picture of Waterton. There's a little lake called Moraine Lake near Lake Louise that one of my dad's brothers, who was somewhat "slow" I think was the term used back then, did all the maintenance for. He had his own log cabin right on the water and had tamed "everything" - deer, squirrels, chipmunks, all kinds of critters would come to visit him. He was an exceptional gardener and during the time he was there he won many accolades. I got to spend a bit of time at Lake Louise, in the hotel, when Apple rolled out the MAC. The first MAC. Yeah, I'm that old. It was quite an experience as it was very snowy outside and toasty warm in. Skating on the lake, lots of hot chocolate, we really enjoyed it. As for the gondola - you are right, fear of heights has kept some of us (ahem) from going up a second time.

It's tough isn't it Tedy? All this gorgeous stuff to enjoy and so little time to get to do it in. Living in it helps, and I guess at times we do take our scenery for granted somewhat, but I know when my wife and I go away and then are coming home we always marvel at how fortunate we are to live in such country. There are many States with similar scenery like MT, OR, CO, UT, ID, WA, CA. But we don't have the quantity of people many of the above noted have. Every camping trip for us is an adventure. And this might help those who wonder why you would tow a trailer with a vintage wagon to understand the reasons. You just can't drive by this stuff. You have to stop and enjoy it. We used to drive right past it, always in a hurry to get to the next commitment, but now we stop, often, and just appreciate what we have at hand.

Life is good. You guys should come up and see it in person.
